Verdicchio di Castelli di Jesi DOC• Verdicchio is related to Greco from Campania and the Trebbiano of Veneto and Lombardia• Verdicchio is a vigorous producing vine, and ripens late• One of Italy’s “also ran” grape varieties for decades, through the mass marketing of the “Fish Bottle”• Recent push for quality has led to reduction of yields and more complexity in the wines – Fazi Battaglia has been a

leader in this area as well• The influence of the coast is strong – only 20km inland to the town of Jesi• Long growing season with relatively dry conditions, allowing for the production of more complex flavor• Characteristics of the variety: piney aromas, tart fruit notes of green apple and pear, and a slight almond finish
