RSLogix™ is a family of products including RSLogix 5™,

RSLogix 500™, and RSLogix 5000™ that incorporates the latest

software technologies, providing you with a powerful

development environment that will increase your productivity

and profitability. Operating in the familiar and powerful point-

and-click Microsoft® Windows® 95, Windows 98, Windows

NT®, or Windows 2000 environments, each of the RSLogix

programs combines powerful functionality and superior

diagnostics yielding an unbeatable productivity tool.

Reliable communications combined with an industry-leading

user interface make it the programming solution for both first-

time users and seasoned professionals alike.

The RSLogix family provides everything you’ve come to

expect in a quality programming software package and more:

• Online/offline programming

• I/O module layout and configuration

• Database editing

• Symbolic addressing and programming

• Cross-reference information

• Advanced troubleshooting features

• Reporting

The RSLogix family runs in the intuitive 32-bit Microsoft

Windows environment. This makes RSLogix easy to learn and

easy to use. The drag-and-drop functionality and multiple

window views speed you through your programming

projects, maximizing as well as saving development time.

RSLogix 5000 has an added feature called the I/O

Configuration Wizard, which assists you with the normally

arduous task of configuring and setting up the I/O modules

in your system. The wizard walks you through all of the

parameters associated with a module via a friendly question

and answer-driven interface. This streamlines the

development task, saving you valuable time. The screens

built into these wizards are later provided as module property

dialogs to allow you to view the module’s status or change

the operational settings.

The Project Verifier allows you to quickly correct program

errors at your convenience by providing you with a list of

application errors. This powerful feature enables RSLogix to

provide you with flexible editors that allow you to

concentrate on creating the application logic you need and

not on the instruction syntax as you create your application

program.

RSLogix 5000 provides support for the Logix5000’s Highly

Integrated Motion functionality. The integrated motion

configuration wizard and ladder logic instructions set include

the same drag-and-drop and navigation features found

throughout the RSLogix environment. Providing an integrated

hardware and software platform to meet your combined

motion and programmable controller needs allows you to

reduce the number of software packages you need to learn

and maintain.

RSLogix 5000 also makes your program easier to interpret

and maintain because it permits you to create customized

data types by combining multiple data elements into a

compound structure. The data type structure editor permits

you to name each element or field of a structure for its use

in your application.

Taking full advantage of the power of Microsoft’s operating

systems, the RSLogix family’s flexible and powerful editor

features allow you to create application programs quickly

and easily. As with all Windows applications, when using

RSLogix you can open several views at the same time

allowing you to edit several ladder logic, structured text,

or sequential function chart files simultaneously. The editor

allows you to create several rungs at the same time, and a

powerful ASCII editor gives you the ability to enter rungs

quickly by using the keyboard to enter the instruction

mnemonics and parameters. Online editing allows you to

modify your application program while the process is still

operating.

If you are concerned with IEC 1131-compliant solutions,

RSLogix meets your needs too. RSLogix 5000 provides IEC

1131-compliant Ladder Diagram (LD) and Function Block

Diagram (FBD) language editors and an IEC 1131-compliant

data model using symbolic data tag names. To augment

these control languages, RSLogix 5000 provides industry-

specific instructions that simplify Motion, Process, Drives,

and Sequential control applications.

Additionally, RSLogix 5 includes IEC 1131-3-based structured

text (STX) and sequential function chart (SFC) editors. Drag-

and-drop editing is one of the most powerful productivity

enhancing features found in the RSLogix family. Drag-and-

drop editing lets you quickly build rungs, or SFC and FBD

diagrams. You can also move instructions from rung to rung

within a project, SFC or FBD elements from diagram to

diagram, SFC or FBD diagrams or ladder logic rungs from one

subroutine or project to another, or data table elements from

one data file to another. You can even add addresses to

instructions using the Data Table monitor, Database file, or

the Address/Symbol Picker.

When troubleshooting an application, quick and accurate

information is critical. The RSLogix family is designed to make

troubleshooting complex problems easier than ever before.

Advanced Diagnostics, RSLogix’s powerful searching tool,

allows you to quickly locate the specific area in the

application that is causing a problem. Using page titles in

your ladder logic, Advanced Diagnostics promptly locates the

outputs in a particular section of your ladder logic, then

jumps to the rung associated with each output. You can

diagnose the interaction of output instructions within a

section of your program by viewing them at the same time.

Using the online cross-reference, you can move to the rung

or instruction you desire by clicking on the referenced item in

the cross-reference view. Custom Display Monitors in

RSLogix 5 and 500 allow you to examine the status of

individual data table elements such as bits, timer, counter,

inputs, and outputs simultaneously in one view. Program files

can be viewed as multiple ladder logic, SFC, FBD, or STX files

in a tabbed window, or in individual windows for each

program file, or in a combination of the two. You can view

multiple projects simultaneously for cutting and pasting

functions.

RSLogix 5 and 500 feature a compare utility that enables you

to find differences between two application programs.

These application programs can be any combination of online

and offline file.

With RSLogix 5000 you can easily take advantage of the

online storage of the troubleshooting Logix5000™ application

from any terminal. This Logix5000 feature will provide you

with a self-documenting project and ensures that you always

have access to the latest project documentation data.

The RSLogix family provides complete compatibility with

Rockwell Software’s popular DOS-based programming

products, A.I. Series™ Ladder Logistics™ and 6200 Series

software. Projects developed with these products can be

imported to RSLogix by simply opening your existing projects.

Likewise, projects developed using RSLogix 5 for the PLC-5®

family of processors or RSLogix 500 for the SLC 500™ and

MicroLogix 1000 processors can be exported back to the

appropriate DOS programming package just as easily. As an

added feature, RSLogix 5000 incorporates a powerful project

translator that can assist you with the conversion of your

existing PLC-5 and SLC 500 project, programmed with any of

Rockwell Software’s DOS-based or Windows-based

products, to the new Logix5000 controller. The translation

process converts your application logic, data, and

documentation quickly and efficiently. With the RSLogix

family you can develop your project using all the time-saving

features of RSLogix and still support it using any of your

DOS-based or Windows-based RSLogix 5000 programming

packages.
