St. Luke’s Garden Ministry News
Wading Pool Gardens
We have approximately 65 current wading pool gar-
dens in the community and will be adding 10 more. We
need volunteers to deliver wading pool gardens on
April 22 and/or 23, move plants from the Rescue Mis-
sion greenhouse on April 29, for the Wading Pool Gar-
den Fair from 8:30-3:00 (or any portion of that time) on
April 30, and to be garden mentors for wading pool
gardeners throughout summer.
St. Luke’s Purdy Produce Plot
This is year number 7 for our church garden. We’ve
raised about 12,000 pounds of produce in that time.
Produce is used in Food for the Soul meals and excess
is given to guests. The garden plot has been cleaned of
last year’s debris. University of Dubuque students are
coming April 16 and 17 (weather permitting) to start
planting. Volunteers are needed throughout the 2016
growing season to plant, mulch, weed, harvest, trans-
port and prepare vegetables and fruit.
Edible Landscapes We received a Sustainable Dubuque grant of $2,350 to
initiate an edible landscape project in Dubuque.
Churches and non-profit agencies are eligible to apply
for a fruit-bearing tree or bush or annual vegetable or
fruit plants. Volunteers are needed to be mentors and
contacts with the recipients.
To volunteer for any of these garden ministries contact

S t. Lukers, my name is Allison Waters-Kutsch, and the last two summers I
have had the amazing experience to work for Mountain T.O.P. with help from all of you. This summer I have been blessed with the opportunity to serve once more in Ten-nessee as a Director of a summer staff. As part of my employment I must raise half of my salary plus living expenses adding up to $2,400. It would be greatly appreciated if you could contribute in any way.
Donations can be made through the offering box with my name on it or at my fundraiser at the Eagle's Club on May 12th. We will be having a Hamburger Night in which you can have your choice of a hamburger or chicken strips with a side of french fries or onion rings for $8. All proceeds go to my fundraising goal.
Additionally prayers are more than appreci-ated throughout the entire summer.
Thank you for your help and support, Allison

PLANNING OUR FUTURE
TOGETHER!
We are inviting you to complete the Congrega-tional Assessment Tool (CAT), an online in-strument that will help leaders gauge the strength, vitality, and trends in our church. The information gained from this assessment will be valuable in helping the leaders of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church as they make deci-sions about the future of St. Luke’s.
You may have already received an email with a unique link to the Congregational Assessment Tool. Beginning on April 7th we are asking you to go online by following the link https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/lukemethdubuqIA and tell us about your experiences in and priori-ties for our church. Please do not discuss the survey or your answers with others as this may influence their answers.
If you need a paper copy, please come to the office, and we will provide one for you. All an-swers are strictly anonymous. We have no way of matching any assessment to a particular per-son, so please feel free to candidly share your perceptions, opinions and experiences. Our future together is dependent on your participa-tion and honest answers.
If you have questions, please contact Grace Ashbrook at [email protected].
Many thanks, St. Luke’s SPPRC

SENIORS OUT AND ABOUT First Meeting April 28
Seniors Out and About, or SOA, is an organiza-tion facilitated by members of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church. SOA’s purpose is to organize a monthly activity for seniors to en-joy. Each trip usually includes a lunch and a visit to a play, museum, scenic view or shop-ping. Cost is a modest fee for transportation and any expenses for entrance fees or tickets. Each person orders off the menu and pays for his/her own meal. Transportation is by our church van or if you are unable to get on and off the van safely we can arrange to have some-one drive a personal car. We usually meet at the Woodlands (3460 Starlite Drive) where there is room to leave your car.
Our first meeting will be at Caroline’s in the Hotel Julien on Thursday, April 28, at 11:45. There is no charge for the transporta-tion that day. The van will be leaving the Woodlands at 11:30 or you can meet us at Caroline’s at 11:45. After eating, we will be sharing our upcoming program for the year and giving more information about our activi-ties. At the lunch you will be given a booklet that has the reservation sheets for the rest of the year.
Contact Tom Mahan 563-590-1767 to make reservations.
