Semester 1 2020 Reporting to Parents

Parents and carers will receive their child’s Semester 1 report in week 10 this term. This report will be a

simplified version of the report you normally receive. Focus is on the learning that has taken place so far

this year and include student’s progress and next steps to learning in English and mathematics.

The NSW Department of Education have given schools until the end of week 6 next term to provide parents

and carers with a written report about students’ learning in Semester 1. We have made the decision to

provide this report at the end of this term and teachers are busy assessing, collating data and writing

relevant comments for this modified report.

Parent/Carer/Teacher Interviews

Parent/Carer/Teacher interviews have been scheduled in Term 3, from 3 August to 7 August. The interview

is to provide parents with the opportunity to discuss their child’s progress with their classroom teacher.

Further information regarding booking an interview will be provided closer to the date.

Greenwich PS Upgrade video

Every NSW Department of Education school that has undergone a new build is provided with a department

created and approved video showcasing highlights of the finished product.

Our school’s video has been released. Here’s the YouTube link (one small tip – I had trouble playing it in

Google Chrome, no problem through Internet Explorer)

https://youtu.be/P5jL1dyYCUw

We look forward to a time next semester when we can hold an official opening to both our beautiful new

builds and enjoy the spaces with our community face-to-face.

Greenwich PS 3-6 Cross Country - Friday 26 June (weather permitting)

Greenwich Public School will host a 3-6 Cross Country Carnival during school

hours on Friday 26 June at Bob Campbell Oval (weather permitting). Due to

COVID-19, all official Zone, Regional and State Cross Country Carnivals have

been suspended, however, this carnival will determine the school champions in

the Junior and Senior categories. Students will race in these categories,

however ribbons will be awarded to students in each of the 8/9, 10, 11 and 12/13

Years age groups. This will be a closed event as parents are not yet able to attend school events due to

COVID-19 restrictions.

Students should come to school on the day wearing their full sports uniform and ensure that they bring

with them a hat, recess and plenty of fluids. Lunch orders will be available on the day as the events will

take place after the first break. Students will walk to and from Bob Campbell Oval by foot, returning back

to school before the end of the day.

Students in Year 2 who turn 8 this year and are COMPETITIVE long distance runners can apply to be

included in the Junior events. Please email [email protected] no later than Friday 19

June if you would like for your child to be considered.

3-6 'Zoom' Assembly

This past Wednesday, we, the Student Leadership Team, hosted our first assembly on 'Zoom' since COVID-19. The task was challenging with a lot of hurdles to overcome, but we believe that the outcome was extremely positive. All classes participated in riddles and earned points for their class. Merit and Silver Awards were also handed out. Overall it was a really fun and exciting experience. We really enjoyed this assembly and hope the students in Years 3-6 did too!

DIM Update - Term 2, Week 7

Just Keep Playing!

Dear Parents & Students,

We are counting down the days until we get to see everyone's smiling faces again, and we just can't wait

to get back on-site and teaching in schools. We're currently in discussions with all of our schools, and we

promise to let you know as soon as we get the green light to get started face-to-face again!

In the meantime, we're busy making preparations so that we can return to schools in a safe way. We want

to make sure that all of our students are feeling confident and happy to get playing again, and there are

some important things you can do right now to help ease yourself back into the swing of things.

Just Keep Playing!

If you haven't picked up your instrument in a while, now is a great time to start - it will make your

transition back into face to face lessons so much easier.

You'll need to remind your brain and your fingers to communicate again - and this can be tricky,

but if you get back into a simple routine now, you'll have plenty of time to get back into it - be patient

with yourself and start slow!

It's not too late to join DIM Connect. If you'd like to join in the online zoom fun with other DIM

students, get in touch and we can help get you sorted.

Some upcoming DIM Changes...

Due to the effects of corona, we have had to change some of our business practices in order to reduce

the financial risk taken on by our business. These changes will be in place from term 3, so that we can

confidently continue delivering music lessons in schools

Pre-payment of all fees is now required

Invoices will be distributed at the end of each school term, to be paid before the start of the next

term.

DIM Office Now Open:

We are excited to be back at the DIM office. Our admin staff have been busy working from home over the

past few months, but we are now all back on the phones and ready to take your calls!

Monday - Friday (9.30am - 4.00pm)

Instrument returns & repairs by appointment only (please call/email prior to arrange a day/time)

Covid-safe guidelines will be in place, including the quarantine of returned instruments (this means

a 2 week delay in the processing of these instruments)

We're back in the DIM office now, so give us a call if you need any help at all!

Just Keep Playing!
