Christmas CarolsI would like to thank everyone who came along to our Christmas Carols last Friday. What a wonderful night! The weather was perfect and there was a contagious community spirit among those who came along to share the Christmas joy. Congratulations to the Band and the Band Committee for their magnificent support on the night. Images of the night can be found on our school website.
Student AchievementI would like to congratulate every single student at our school. While a number of students were acknowledged today and will be at tomorrow’s Presentation Day ceremony I think that all of our students need to be recognised for their hard work and for how much they have matured and learned this year. Perhaps tonight when everyone is sitting down to dinner it might be nice for all of us, as parents, to give our children and hug and just say THANKS!
Semester 2 ReportsNext Monday we will be handing out the end of year reports. Please sit down with you child or children and look at their results and spend some time talking to them about their achievements this year.
Christmas Gift AppealI would like to thank the EHPS community for their fantastic support of the Christmas Gift Appeal. We had so many contributions that they needed three trips to collect the gifts. Thank you everyone.
End of termThe school term finishes on Wednesday, 16th December for students. Thursday and Friday are school development days for staff to undertake Professional Learning. For students from Year 1 to Year 6 school commences on Thursday, 28th January 2016. For 2016 Kindergarten students the school term will begin on Tuesday, 2nd February.

... YEAR 5 SURF EDUCATION.....|.....MRS CLARE HAGONWhat was the frequently heard comment from Year 5 on Mona Vale Beach last Thursday? It wasn’t a complaint that it was cool or cloudy or that the surf was a bit messy. It was a resounding, ‘This is the best school day ever!’
Year 5 enjoyed every minute of the tube rescues, board paddling, beach flags, bucket and wade races, beach volleyball and cricket that was part of their surf safety program. But there were important lessons learned too.
We know an acronym to help us to keep safe at the beach: FLAGS
Find the flags and swim between them
Look for any safety signs
Ask a lifesaver for some good advice
Get a friend to swim with you
Signal for help if you get into difficulty
We were also reminded of the Slip, Slop, Slap, Slip, Seek message for sun safety.
Really, lessons for all of us to remember!
Enjoy the beach safely over the Christmas break.

STEWART HOUSE & BEAR COTTAGE CHRISTMAS GIFT AppEAL VICkI BOSLER, kHIARA kENGIkE AND THE SRC TEAMThe Christmas Gift Appeal for 2015 was a resounding success! On behalf of the Student Representative Council (SRC) we’d like to sincerely thank the school community for getting behind this initiative again this year and wholeheartedly supporting our efforts.
We were overwhelmed by the generosity of the school community as was Wiseberry Real Estate who were also overwhelmed at the amount of gifts they had to donate. The foyer was filled with gifts as you can see from the photos!
The Wiseberry Real Estate cars were full to the brim and had to make two trips to take all the gifts to the students of Stewart House, and Bear Cottage.
We have done something very worthwhile in keeping with the spirit of Christmas - giving and thinking of others less fortunate than ourselves. We’re sure our efforts will bring a great deal of joy to the students of Stewart House and Bear Cottage.
The SRC did a wonderful job encouraging their peers to bring gifts and overseeing their collection in the classrooms. We’d like to thank the staff for also supporting this event and for managing to move around the overflowing boxes of gifts in their classrooms without injury!
Mufti Day saw the playground become a sea of Christmassy colours and crazy, colourful hairstyles as the students embraced the theme. It was a culmination to our Christmas Gift Appeal. We’d also like to thank those staff members who joined the students in donning Christmas mufti colours and helping to make it a special, festive day for all.

Y... Presentation Day
Earlier today I had the great pleasure of presenting some awards to a very talented group of students who have achieved some stand out results in their areas of expertise.
We have a whole school of tremendous students, some I’m sure are unsung heroes, and to witness the achievements of those recognised today is a reflection on the whole school, teachers and students alike.
I congratulate one and all.
Carols NightWhat a wonderful sight it was on the middle oval and what a night to celebrate the penultimate Friday of Term 4; a gathering of the EHPS clan on a balmy and cloudless evening.
A huge thank you to all the parents and children who joined in and made the night a success, to the teachers who joined the fun, our incredible bands and strings group, their conductors and the amazing Social Committee and Music Program Support Group members who organised, set-up, cooked, served, raffled and cleaned-up.
Thank you for your efforts, without you the event would never have happened. And believe it or not, unlike the last time when we ran out of food, there were 3 sausage sandwiches left over!

Become an Ethics Teacher or Coordinator at Elanora Heights Public School
Primary Ethics provides the opportunity for NSW public primary school students who don’t attend scripture classes (SRE) to participate in
philosophical ethics classes.
We have a few vacancies for volunteers to teach Years K-6 ethics classes. The classes teach children how to approach ethical issues and develop their capacity for considered moral judgement, which will enable them to respond more thoughtfully to many of the problems and issues they will face in their lives. Volunteer Ethics Teachers are trained to deliver our age-appropriate curriculum every week and to use the accompanying learning and
teaching materials.
For more information, please contact:Jane Bulter
