27 th August 2019 Week 6 Term 3 Relieving Principal’s Report Absolute Superstars! Last week we celebrated Education Week and Book Week with our school community. Our teachers work tirelessly to allow our students many different opportunities to showcase their skills, with our whole school assembly just one example of this. I was extremely proud of our students, many of whom overcame their nerves to perform on stage. I am sure you will agree that it was wonderful to see our students working collaboratively to put together their best foot forward. Our Book Week parade was a huge success, with many varied costumes on display. The smiles on the faces of our students summed up the day – fantastic! Each year it gets bigger and better! Our Art Gallery brightened up our hall beyond belief – we hope you enjoyed seeing our art on display. I would like to warmly thank all of the parents and carers who came along to share in our students learning. We had a Great Time! Yesterday we held our termly Community Morning Tea where our students shared their knowledge and skills in small groups. This term we showcased our new technology that we have purchased throughout the year. All parents that attended thought it was very worthwhile and couldn’t believe how much has changed at school! I would like to thank Mr Van Ballekom for sharing his expertise in robotics and digital technologies. Relieving Principal’s Report Absolute Superstars!

Approaching Our School Over the last few weeks a number of parents have been unsure about who to speak with about a particular issue or concern. Your child’s teacher is usually the best person to speak to, at least initially. However, sometimes you may need to speak to the Assistant Principal who looks after your child’s stage. Please try to make an appointment if you would like to discuss a matter. Parents are also reminded that it is not acceptable at any time to approach or discuss an issue with another child. At all times parents are expected to be courteous and mindful of their behaviour towards other students, parents and staff whilst on or near our school grounds. This includes using inappropriate language. We want to work with you to find a solution to any concerns and appreciate your support in making our school an inviting place for everyone. On a final note... ‘Why fit in when you were born to stand out?’ Dr Seuss Thank you for your support of our school. Mellissa Page Relieving Principal Student of the Week Class of the Week

This year 8 students from JWPS participated and developed skills in impromptu speaking and public speaking. The program ran over 3 separate days and culminated in a Showcase at Parliament House NSW. Congratulations to Justice, Akeela, Tori, Rebecca, Angelee, Lara, Amber and Layne for being outstanding representatives of John Warby and presenting their deadly speeches in the Legislative Assembly Room at Parliament House NSW on Monday 19th August.

Book Week Author Visit As part of our Book Week celebrations last week we were very lucky to have Richie Cotton visit our school and read some of his poetry to us. Richie is the author of ‘Giggly Times, Giggly Rhymes’. He spent Wednesday morning reading to us and giving us tips on how to write our very own picture books! We all had so much fun listening to his poems and loved watching them come alive online too.
