A MOMENT WITH TODAY’S SCRIPTURES!

Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity !Happy Trinity Sunday! In today's Gospel, we hear

Jesus declare together all three Persons of the Trinity. "Go therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit."!!

When we speak of the Trinity, two different theological words are sometimes used: immanent and economic. The immanent Trinity is the life of the three Persons within themselves, the inner harmonious relationship between Father, Son, and Spirit. We see this in the Gospels when Jesus speaks of his Father and promises to send the Holy Spirit. The term "economic" has its roots in the Greek word oikonomia, roughly meaning "household management." The economic Trinity is our threePersoned God's relationship with creation; it is creation and redemption and ongoing relationship with us.!! Made in the image and likeness of God, we are called to imitate God's immanence by giving and receiving love with one another in community. However, this is not limited only to those close to us, though that's where love often starts. We also imitate the economy of God when we go out, when we extend our love and care in a lifegiving way. "Go therefore ?"!

Every believer is sent on mission. Every believer is invited to follow Jesus and the Apostles "to the nations," to the margins, to the people who require a little extra reach. This could be a distant relative, the residents of your local homeless shelter or even the forgotten neighbor next door! When we love well, we create something beautifula relationship, a holy moment, a foretaste of heaven. This Trinity Sunday, take some time to examine the relationships in your life. How well do you love those nearest to you? How well do you reach out to those farther away? How are you creating something beautiful?

PARISH COUNCIL CORNER!! Reflecting on Pentecost and the Holy Spirit, I thought about my own conversion experience. I was born and raised Catholic. After college I found a nice job in my hometown. My Catholicism was just another compartment in my life.!! Later, my boss left for a job in Rochester. He asked me to come along. It was a chance to help start a computer department at small company. It was a unique opportunity. I was single and unattached at the time, so why not go?!! Upon arrival, I found out we were months late on a delivery of a computer system. I was working days, nights and weekends. This went on for months. After a while I questioned the value of always working. I looked into joining the Peace Corp.!! One day, I noticed an advertisement in the paper for a healing service at St. Augustine’s Church by two Jesuit priests from Marquette University, my hometown. It sounded intriguing. I knew nothing about healing services. So why not go?!! I went and was blown away. The music was fantastic. People seemed so alive and joyful. I was searching and now I had found something. I got a Courier Journal and looked up St. Augustine’s. I notice they had a charismatic prayer group. I had no I idea what that was, but I was interested, so why not go?!! Once again I was amazed at what happened. The music was phenomenal. It was mostly people my age. They were so joyful. They quoted the bible. Told stories about Jesus working in their lives. I wanted what they had.!! I attended more meetings. I realized that Jesus is alive and well and wanted me. I started reading the bible. The verses spoke directly to me! A great and tremendously loving God had been patiently waiting for me. This changed my life entirely. I had let the Holy Spirit into my life.!! I hope you have your own conversion story. Maybe dramatic. Maybe slowly unfolding over years. How you come to know Jesus doesn’t matter. It’s that you know Him and appreciate His great love. I pray that you can relate to Jesus in a very personal way. A way that makes your life a joy and gives it meaning. If not, pray for the Holy Spirit to come and open your eyes to His life. Did I mention that I met this beautiful girl at the prayer meeting? We married soon afterward. Why not? Do you think that had anything to do with anything? God is good.!

INSPIRATION FOR THE WEEK!The love relationship that exists among the Persons of the Holy Trinity is both intense and intimate. As beautiful as this teaching is, it demonstrates how human language really pales in trying to capture the essence of God. The Father brings us to the creative, powerful, yet gently meticulous part of God who has brought mountains and hills into being, as well as each of his children. Still the Father is more than this. The Son demonstrates the unconditional love of God filled with endless mercy and compassion. This love really understands the journey of the marginalized and the poor and has no use for created powers and structures that alienate and hurt people. But the Son is even more than this. The Holy Spirit is the breath of God who teaches wisdom and brings understanding, who governs the seasons and discerns the thoughts of human hearts. Yet the Holy Spirit is still more than this. We worship a God who is beyond and also intimately bonded to all that he has made, without whom nothing could be sustained in being. Praise the Holy Trinity! !

As Spring has finally arrived, the students of

Saint Pius Tenth have begun a wonderful

collaboration of the arts, just in time for the

Spring Concert and Student Art Show. The

Canticle of Brother Sun and Sister Moon of

Saint Francis of Assisi has been our inspiration

for making works of art that celebrate nature.

Specifically, we have focused on the book The

Circle of Days, an illustrated interpretation of

Saint Francis’ work, and how we can ourselves

celebrate our natural surroundings while

learning about both visual art and music. Each

grade has been assigned different imagery to

work with, and all celebrate various aspects of

nature, as Saint Francis did.!

Kindergarten is working on completing a

beautiful mixed media spring flower piece.

This is a multifaceted creation using a variety

of materials. !

First and Second Grades have been working on

tree and bird collages. Students have been

focusing on texture and layering papers they

have painted into beautiful and unique

compositions. !

EVERYDAY STEWARDSHIP!

Recognize God in Your Ordinary Moments! My wife and I have used the same bapsmal

gown for all 3 of our children. It is a very long

tradional gown made with fabric taken from my

wife's first communion dress and my mother!in!

law's wedding gown. It is a symbol not just of

each child being washed clean by the sacrament,

but also of family and how faith has been passed

down through generaons. Faith is a giJ and that

gown shows how this family has taken seriously

the culvaon of that faith and the sharing of it

with those we love the most.

By our bapsm we are called to a discipleship

that compels us to share our faith with others. It

is not always easy, but it would be wrong to

horde that faith and not let it shine for others to

see. When we think about a stewardship way of

life, we somemes focus on material goods, our

talents and skills, or our me. But faith is a giJ

that needs to be treated in a similar way. We are

heirs with Jesus Christ to this rich tapestry of

faith and the Church. If all of us were to hide that

faith and not seek to share it with others, that

lineage would end with us.

We live during a me in history where in

some lands people are finding Jesus in huge

numbers, while in other places the numbers of

people in the pews is declining sharply. We can

spend all our me talking about these realies or

we can choose to respond to our bapsmal call.

Jesus commanded us to go forth and make

disciples of all naons. Maybe we can begin with

our neighbor.
