On the one hand, it seems todays devotion is as much about how God placed

this message on my heart as it is about the message itself. But the truth is its

allabout Godand how He knows us. Lets open with prayer

Recently Janet went to Massachusetts to be with a young woman who thinks of

    Janet as her 2nd

Mom, and who wanted Janet to be there when she had her

baby. It was a wonderful experience as Janet received the privilege of seeing

the newly-born baby, sharing the excitement with the parents, and sensing the

awe and reality of Gods creation.

The baby girl was given the name Paige and in my usual attempt to bring

humor through puns (An oxymoron?), I sent a message of congratulations,

asking if they would be using PaigeMakerto do the announcements, and

adding the thought that they were now PaigeMakers themselves.

But through a check of the Spirit, I realized they were not really the Paige-

makers; rather, it was God who had made Paige, using these two dear young

people as His instrument just as He made the first child, Cain, through Adam

and Eve. (Gen. 4:1 The man had relations with his wife Eve, and she conceived

and bore Cain, saying, I have produced a man with the help of the LORD.)

As God would have it, I was also waiting for my devotional thought at this time,

and as I prayed for that, a song came to me (By now you know I love song lyrics

that speak of Gods greatness.) one I could not quite identify, but which I

believed had a message of God as our Maker.

The short of this is that while I had thought my devotion would be about some

aspect of how God works in our lives, I was led to share how God works ON our

lives as He creates, or makes them. It was as though God said, First tell about

    my being the Creatorand Maker.

My search for the song led me to a dear friend, whose daughter had the

answer (An answer I also learned from a South American, through Yahoo

Answers!): He Knows My Name. Here are the words from this song; maybe

    you know them:

    He Knows My Name

    I have a maker

    He formed my heart,

    before even time began

My life was in his hands.

    I have a father,

    he calls me his own

    He'll never leave me,

    no matter where I go.

    He knows my name

    He knows my every thought

He sees each tear that falls

and hears me when I call.

Convicted and confirmed of my topic, I then began looking through Scripture

for those verses or passages that proclaimed God as our Maker; there were 39

instances in my Bible. As God would have it, I happenedto be listening to the

Bible-on-CD at that time, and also happenedto be in Job. As I listened, I heard

how God speaks of His power as the Maker of all things.

Lets now read those verses, and other verses, beginning with well, the

beginning: Genesis. Some of the verses used are partial, having been cut to

just those words that declare the wonder of Gods being our Maker, of His

being the wonder of the things He has made, and of the wonder of His being

our Father. As you read these Scripture excerpts, emphasize the words Father,

Maker, Creatorand any word that speaks of Gods work. As you hear them in

your mind and heart, marvel once again at His majesty and awesome nature

    and that He knows.

From Genesis 1:1In the beginning, when Godcreatedthe heavens and the earth,

3Then God said, Let there be light, and there was light.

    4God then

separated the light from the darkness.

6Then God said, Let there be a dome in the middle of the waters, to

separate one body of water from the other. And so it happened:7Godmade

the dome, and it separated the water above the dome from the water below

it.8God called the dome the sky.

9Then God said, Let the water under the sky be gathered into a single

basin, so thatthe dry land may appear. And so it happened: the water under

the sky was gathered into its basin, and the dry land appeared.10

    God called the

dry land the earth, and the basin of the water he called the sea. God saw

    how good it was.11

Then God said, Let the earth bring forth vegetation: every

kind of plant that bears seed and every kind of fruit tree on earth that bears

fruit with its seed in it. And so it happened:

    Continuing with Gen. 1:14

Then God said: Let there be lights in the dome of the sky, to separate day

from night. Let them mark the fixed times, the days and the years, And so it

    happened.16

Godmade the two great lights, the greater one to govern the day, and

the lesser one to govern the night; and he made the stars.20

Then God said, Let the water teem with an abundance of living

creatures, and on the earth let birds fly beneath the dome of the sky. And so it

    happened.24

Then God said, Let the earth bring forth all kinds of living creatures:

cattle, creeping things, and wild animals of all kinds. And so it happened:26

Then God said: Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. Let

them have dominion over the fish of the sea, the birds of the air, and the cattle,

and over all the wild animals and all the creatures that crawl on the ground.27

    Godcreatedman in his image; in the divine image he createdhim;

    male and female he createdthem.

Then from Chapter 2 of Gen:22

God then used the rib that he had taken from

the Man to make Woman .

Job equally reminds us that God is our Maker, even when many of us think of

Job, we think more of his trials and how he reconciled with God. This time

through, I was struck more by Chapters 38 and 39, where Job referred to God

as his Maker and God then explained to Job Who He (God) is:

    From Job 38:4

Where were you when I createdthe earth? Tell me, since you know so much!8

And who took charge of the ocean when it gushed forth like a baby from the

womb?9That was me! I wrapped it in soft clouds, and tucked it in safely at night.

12And have you ever ordered Morning, Get up! told Dawn, Get to work!25

Who do you suppose carves canyons for the downpours of rain, and charts

    the route of thunderstorms?28

And who do you think is thefatherof rain and dew,?30

You dont for a minute imagine these marvels of weather just happen, do

    you?34

Can you get the attention of the clouds, and commission a shower of rain?35

Can you take charge of the lightning bolts and have them report to you for

    orders?

    And from Chapter 39:26

Was it through your know-how that the hawk learned to fly, soaring

    effortlessly on thermal updrafts?27

Did you command the eagles flight, and teach her to build her nest in the

    heights,..?

Next read and listen to Psalm 100:3, a part of this psalm of thanksgiving:3Know that the LORD is God, ourmakerto whom we belong, whose people we

    are, Gods well-tended flock.

To these verses from Psalm 121:1I raise my eyes toward the mountains. From where will my help come?

    2My

help comes from the Lord, the makerof heaven and earth.

    To Proverbs 22:2

Rich and poor have a common bond: the Lord is the makerof them all

    Isaiah 40:28:

Do you not know or have you not heard? The Lord is the eternal God, creatorof

the ends of the earth. He does not faint nor grow weary, and his

    knowledge is beyond scrutiny.

    Isaiah 45:18:

For thus says the Lord, The creatorof the heavens, Who is God, The designer

andmakerof the earth, Who established it, Not creating it to be a

waste, but designing it to be lived in: I am the Lord, and there is no

    other.

And to Isaiah 57:19 I, the Creator, who gave them life.

In Luke Chapter 11, Jesus, having taught His disciples the Lords Prayerand

having driven out a demon, was questioned by a Pharisee, with whom He was

dining. Jesus pointed out God also makes our inside, by developing our heart.

Luke 11:40: Did not the makerof the outside also make the inside

    Add these next verses:

John 1:14: And the Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us, and

we saw his glory, the glory as of the Fathers only Son, full of grace and truth

John 5:11: He answered them, The man who mademe well told me, Take up

    your mat and walk.

Acts 15:8: And God, who cant be fooled by any pretense on our part but

always knowsa persons thoughts, gave them the Holy Spirit exactly as he gave

    him to us

Acts 17:24-26: The God who made the world and all that is in it, the Lord of

heaven and earth, does not dwell in sanctuaries made by human hands,25

    nor is

he served by human hands because he needs anything. Rather it is he who gives

to everyone life and breath and everything.26

He made from one the whole

human race to dwell on the entire surface of the earth, and he fixed the ordered

seasons and the boundaries of their regions,

And finally, read this Good News in Revelation 21:5 & 6, that God even

    makes old things new:

Revelation 21:5 & 6:5The one who sat on the throne said, Behold, I make all

things new. Then he said, Write these words down, for they are trustworthy

    and true. 6

He said to me, They are accomplished. I (am) the Alpha and the

Omega, the beginning and the end.
