FROM THE DESK OF VEN JAYANTH JEYAVEERASINGAN
My dear people of God and the community,
As we start a new month of November, we not only stand at the portals of a new year, but also remember the saints of the church, our parents and mentors, elders and other dearly departed souls, who are in the nearer presence of our Creator.
The short meditation for November is a story I may have shared in one of my sermons, which appeared on WhatsApp. One day, a mum came frantically to the door of a doctor and she conveyed to the doctor that she was very, very poor and her son was critically ill and she was unable to treat him. She asked the doctor whether he could come and see what was wrong with the son. The doctor obliged the mother and went with her to her home, which was an old, broken down cottage. In the light of the lantern, the doctor could see the small boy of around 8
years of age, suffering with pain in his abdomen. It was a situation between life and death. The doctor took the situation into his hands, operated the boy, spent his own money, and the boy was healed, for which the mother was ever so grateful.
After many years had gone by, the doctor was to be honoured for his service and was going to be awarded a gold medal and certificate. At this award ceremony, the Prime Minister of the country was to give away the certificates and the medals. As the doctor came up onto the stage, the Prime Minister, first, asked for the hands of the doctor, knelt down, and kissed them. Then, the Prime Minister told the story that his mother had related to him about the doctor who saved his life. She had told him that if ever he came across this doctor that he should do one thing on her behalf even if she was dead. She told him that
he should go down on his knees and kiss the doctor’s hands because he had performed a miracle in the name of God.
The Prime Minister was, in fact, that poor child, whose life the doctor had saved!
What do we learn from this story? (a) We have to be very human and humane in the life we live as life is very short.

(b) We have to be humble and obedient in the pilgrimage of life, never forgetting our past.
(c) We walk in the footsteps of God, our parents, and teachers. We uphold their impressions in our life and pass it on to the church and community.
(d) Whoever we meet in the pilgrimage of life despite his class, cast, or creed, we are called to sympathise and empathise with them.
May this message transform and reform our lives.
Yours sincerely Fr Jayanth

SUNDAYS A Time of Church-Family Fellowship: After the 8:00 am service A cup of tea is served in the Parish Hall, every Sunday. On 4th
Sundays, the Mothers’ Union hosts a ‘Combined Congregations Breakfast’. On other Sundays, you November buy your own breakfast. Even if you aren’t hungry for a meal, come and savour the taste of fellowship.
A Listening Ear: 9:45 am to 10:00 am Some parishioners have volunteered their time to lend a ear and to pray with those who are facing challenges in life. While you November contact them to set up a mutually convenient time and place to talk/meet, they will also be available on Sundays in the Parish Hall (Meeting Room), from 9:45am to 10:00am. Sunday School: 10:00 am to 11:15 am Our children are taught God’s Word and ways—in a fun, meaningful, and innovative manner—by a group of dedicated teachers. Their parents are also most welcome to worship with the rest of our church-family and become more involved in parish activities!
Youth and Teens Meeting: 4:00 pm to 5:30 pm The teens and youth of the parish will start meeting regularly for worship, study, and a whole host of other fun-filled activities geared towards spiritual growth and maturity. We ask for your prayers as church leaders who guide and mentor these young people in our parish heed God’s voice over this next generation of ours…
Fellowship Evening: 7:00 pm A fellowship evening is held every 3rd Sunday after the 5:30pm worship service. All are welcome!
SPECIAL EUCHARISTIC SERVICES If you wish to have a dedicated celebration of Holy Communion on your birthday, or any other anniversary that is special to you and yours, your Vicar is able and willing to arrange a special service—provided that sufficient notice is given.
