Thank You, Parishioners! During the past few weeks, numerous packages, trays, gift bags, baskets
and other items have arrived in the office. The contents included treats,
baked goods, chocolate, personal gifts, etc. Some of the items were directed
to the office staff but most were sent to me personally. Many of these gifts
included a card, letter or hand-written note. I am very touched by the
thoughtfulness and generosity of the OLM parishioners! I want each of you
to know that I truly appreciate your gifts and especially your written
acknowledgements. You are all wonderful! Sincerely, Joanne

Dear Parishioners and Visitors of Our Lady of the Mountains, HAPPY NEW YEAR! Welcome to our celebration of the Holy Eucharist on this brand new year 2017. We are delighted that you are here to celebrate with us. In his encyclical letter Redemptoris Mater (Mother of the Redeemer), Saint John Paul II talks about how God the Father’s loving plan to redeem us is fulfilled in the sending of Christ, His Son and how we, in Christ, truly become the sons and daughters of God (Redemptoris Mater, #1). But at the heart of Saint John Paul II’s encyclical letter is the person of Mary. She is the one through whom God enters this world. He could have come in any way He desired. How remarkable, that God would choose to come in so simple and humble a way, “born of a woman”, exactly like each one of us. That is what today’s feast is all about. Mary gives birth to a Son, and everything that pertains to His human nature comes from her. In that sense, she is a mother like any mother here today. But her Son is unlike any other child; He is a Divine Person, the eternal Son of God. For that reason—because Mary truly gave birth to Christ—she is rightfully called the Mother of God. Today we turn to Mary with all our New Year’s resolutions, and with the doors of our hearts wide open to the faith and works that her Son will bring into our lives in this New Year. May she who was the first to give birth to Christ in this world continue to intercede for us this New Year’s Day and everyday of the year 2017. Have a Blessed New Year 2017!!! Fr Joseph Thai Cao Pastor

EUCHARISTIC ADORATION OPPORTUNITY
Our Lady of the Mountains is offering an evening opportunity for Adoration of the
Most Blessed Sacrament. This will happen on the first Wednesday of every
month, beginning Wednesday, January 4th. Father will expose the Blessed
Sacrament at 5:00 PM with quiet prayer until 5:30 PM, when we will pray the
rosary followed by benediction at 6:00 PM.
This is a wonderful opportunity for families to stop for a moment of prayer with our
Lord when picking up children from Religious Education. Hopefully this will also be
convenient time of prayer for our working parishioners.
We extend this invitation of grace to our entire parish family and our visitors.
