“Our Lady of Sorrows, pray for us.”
Mass Reservations A reservation system for Sunday Masses is in place with
a seating capacity of 80 per Mass. This reflects 25% of
our official capacity. Although the capacity was raised to
34%, OLS will continue to retain the 25%. If a particular
Mass “maxes out” at 25% for three consecutive weeks,
the “Re-opening Task Force” will be consulted as to how
to best accommodate the additional attendees. We
continue to encourage all parishioners to use the
reservation link which is located on our website
www.olscc.com Please print your confirmation and
bring it to Mass with you. Members of the Task Force
will be on hand before and after Mass to assist attendees.
Family “units” may sit together.
Remember…You do not have an obligation to go to
Mass during the coronavirus pandemic. Cardinal Dolan
has dispensed us from the obligation to attend Sunday
Mass at this time. Please join us for Mass in the church
only when you feel safe and comfortable to do so. As an
alternative, you can watch Mass on-line or on T.V. and
make an Act of Spiritual Communion (see below) when
you are unable to physically receive the Eucharist.
FYI…The 12:00 pm Sunday Mass will be held
outdoors (weather permitting) until further
notice. Parishioners are asked to register, wear
masks, bring a chair and maintain social distancing.
Prayer for a Spiritual Communion:
My Jesus, I believe that you are present in the Most
Holy Sacrament. I love you above all things and I
desire to receive you in my soul.
Since I cannot at this moment receive you
sacramentally,
Come at least spiritually into my heart.
I embrace you as if you were already there
And unite myself wholly to you.
Never permit me to be separated from you.
Amen.
WANTED: O.L.S.’s Task Force is in need of 2
additional parishioners at each weekend Mass to
assist with checking-in parishioners before Mass
and cleaning and sanitizing the church after Mass.
If interested, please contact Kelly Myers at
[email protected] or Fr. Tim at

O.L.S.’s Religious Education program
began last Sunday and will conclude on
Sunday, May 23, 2021. It will be different than in the past as we deal with the
corona virus pandemic. From September 2020 - January
2021, our program will be a hybrid model family-based
(remote learning) with at-home assignments and monthly
in-person catechesis (family gatherings) in the church
which is already set up for “distancing” according to NY
State guidelines. All materials - books, visual materials
and support will be supplied to the students. The
program will be reviewed prior to the start of the January
2021- May 2021 semester.
Please do not wait to register. All families
must be registered parishioners of O.L.S. parish in order
for your children to attend our Religious Education
program. If you have any questions or for registration
forms, email Mrs. Jen DeMilio at [email protected]
or call her at 914-949-3896. We look forward to
educating your children in the Catholic Faith.
This Sunday’s Readings First Reading: Ezekiel 18:25-28
Ezekiel reminds the people that if a sinner turns away
from his iniquity, he will live, not die.
Second Reading: Philippians 2:1-11
Paul urges the converts at Philippi to be united in spirit
and ideals, avoiding rivalry and dissension. He ends with
the beautiful hymn extolling the humility and sacrifice of
Christ.
Gospel: Matthew 21:28-32
Jesus speaks words of rebuke to the chief priests and the
elders because they are not believing the teachings of
John the Baptist. He warns them that tax collectors and
prostitutes, who do believe John, will enter the Kingdom
of God before them. ©1999 Bon Venture Services, Inc.

SPECIAL SAINTS’ DAYS THIS WEEK
Monday, September 28th - St. Wenceslaus A familiar Christmas carol reflects this saint who was
King of Bohemia in the 10th century (“Good King
Wenceslaus went out on the feast of St. Stephen”). He
was known for his concern for the poor and his
dedication to the Church.
Tuesday, September 29th - Michael, Gabriel and
Raphael - Archangels The Archangels are portrayed as ministering spirits who
protect and watch over us, each in his own way. They
also serve as intermediaries, carrying our hymns and
prayers to the Lord. In the 13th century, St. Thomas
Aquinas (called the “Angelic Doctor”) wrote that each
angel is its “own order in the universe, far greater than a
star.”
Wednesday, September 30th
- St. Jerome Born in Dalmatia in 340 A.D., Jerome studied in Rome
where he was baptized. He returned to the East, became a
monk and because of his reputation as a scholar, he was
asked by the Pope to translate the Bible from Hebrew and
Greek into Latin. His translation, known as the Vulgate,
remained in use for over a thousand years. He lived a life
of prayer and asceticism. He once wrote “Ignorance of
Scripture is ignorance of Christ.” He died in Bethlehem
in 420 A.D
