Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe

NOVEMBER 25, 2012

For this I came into the world, to testify to the truth. Today is the Feast of Christ the King. Traditionally a king is the ruler of a nation. In most nations, there is a ceremony of crowning, including anointing with oil. He is the leader, the spokesperson who “tells it like it is”, the symbolic head of the community, the head of the military, the one who sacrifices himself for his people, and the one who hands out justice. Christ Himself never directly claimed the title “King”, since it was open to misinterpretation—people would have thought he was a military leader. But the Church has called Christ “King” since Scriptural times. (See, for example, Revelation 17:14) Each year, the readings chosen for the feast of Christ the King emphasize a different aspect of kingship. In Year A, we see Christ the King as Judge in the parable of the sheep and the goats. In Year C, we see Christ as the King sacrificing himself, dying on behalf of his people. This year, Year B, we see Christ as the one who “tells it like it is”. For this I came into the world, to testify to the truth. If we want to follow Christ the King, we have to testify to the truth too. No slander or spiteful gossip. No cover-ups. No involvement in scams. Jesus said clearly that lies were from the devil. (John 8:44) We need to be especially careful of “group think”. Psychologists have shown that groups can talk themselves into all sorts of lies much faster than individuals. The Nazis talked a whole nation into believing that the Jews were less than human—and so 6 million people were murdered, includ-ing women and children. Think for yourself, and be es-pecially on guard if there is a veiled “threat” towards you if you don’t buy into a lie. That is the mark of the devil’s work. We are building a different kind of king-dom. Where Christ is King, people will speak the truth in love. For this I came into the world, to testify to the truth.

Nuestro Señor Jesucristo, Rey del Universo

NOVIEMBRE 25, 2012

No calumnies o digas chismes o tengas rencores.

LỄ CHÚA KITÔ VUA OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST THE KING

November 25, 2012

My favorite saint would have to be Mary Magdelene. I believe that she was meant to lead many people in the way of God includ-ing me. For all my saint repors I have done a different saint, but for my latest saint report I did it on her. I was able to learn all about her. To me it seamed like I was able to become closer to God with her present. I wanted to be like her to follow God’s way. To be able to connecto to God in my own ways, to trust him and believe in his way just as Mary Magdelene did. Mariah Diaz
