Curious about the Catholic Church? If you are not a Catholic, but are curious about the Church, have a friend or family member who may be interested, or perhaps has some misconceptions about the Church, RCIA is the place. If you would like more information, please contact Deacon Jeffrey Fortkamp at 614-578-5420 or [email protected].
Susan Gruber, whom many parents remember from the years she spent teaching here, has agreed to serve as temporary administrator of Our Lady of Peace School, while the search committee continues its quest for a permanent principal. Susan comes with glowing recommendations, and she wowed the committee during her interview. Because she has recently retired, she is not interested in the post long term; but she will clearly be adept at keeping the vessel sailing yarely for the next several months. As pastor, I am delighted to welcome here aboard the parish staff, if only for a short time. I am sure all of us are very grateful for her willingness to serve us in our need.

Jubilee Year Of MercY
Two Criteria on Love“I am thinking of what St. Ignatius told us .... He pointed out two criteria on love. The first: Love is expressed more clearly in actions than in words. The second: There is greater love in giving than in receiving. These two criteria are like the pillars of true love: deeds, and the gift of self.”
– Pope Francis, Homily, Domus Sanctae Marthae, June 7, 2013
REFLECTION: So often when we make acts of mercy toward the poor or sick, it is we who receive the most. The Second Vatican Council’s document Lumen Gentium states, “Man only finds himself through a sincere gift of self.” Find opportunities to reach out to others and allow them to help you realize what truly matters in life.

Volunteers Needed – As the only Catholic hospice in Columbus and the surrounding communities, Mount Carmel Hospice and Palliative Care Service invites you to join us in serving those who are at end-of-life. In the spirit of the Gospel, our volunteers help their neighbors who are at end-of-life. If you are interested in becoming a hospice volunteer whether at the bedside or behind the scenes, join us for a special panel discussion. A group of Mount Carmel Hospice volunteers will discuss their roles and contributions, then answer your questions. The session can help you find the best way to serve your community at end-of-life. Please join us on August 9, from 1:00-2:00 p.m. or on August 16, from 6:00-7:00 p.m. at the Mount Carmel Hospice and Palliative Care Center. Register by calling 234-LIFE (5433).
BAA Update – The parish has reached $91,147.00 in pledges. This is about $2,500.00 less than was pledged last year. Please consider making a pledge, or increasing your pledge to this year’s BAA campaign. All funds received in excess of the goal are returned to the parish without the diocesan tax being applied. 2015 was the best BAA campaign year for OLP. With your help, 2016 will be even better. 2016 BAA envelopes may be found in the Gathering Space or pledges can be made online at http://www.colsdioc.org/Offices/DevelopmentandPlanning/BishopsAnnualAppeal/MakeAGiftNow.aspx.
