“Everyone of you who does not renounce all his possessions cannot be my disciple.” (Luke 14:33)

When we first hear this statement, it seems that Jesus is making an unrealistic demand upon us. How can

we renounce all of our possessions? We need them to live. However, what we must renounce is the belief

that they belong to us. Everything that we have belongs to God alone. All of our resources are

entrusted to us not only for our own use, but also so that we can help others. Once we renounce the idea

that we possess or are entitled to anything, it is much easier to share the many gifts that God has given us.

Then we truly are His Disciples.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT

A heartfelt “thank you” to our parishioners who

have been so faithful and generous during the summer months. May God continue to shine his blessings upon you. As you know, the work of

the church does not stop during vacation months, and our parish depends on everyone’s generosity to ensure that the Word of God can be effective

promulgated in and around our community.

Also thank you to all parishioners who contributed to “The Little Sisters of the Poor” the weekend of August 17-18. We collected $4,000

Are you an adult thinking more deeply about God?

About faith? About things that last?

Are you an adult thinking about deepening your relationship with

Jesus by joining the Catholic Church?

Are you an adult who

has been baptized but has not celebrated First Communion?

or been Confirmed?

If you answered YES to any of these questions, please email Deacon Tom Sommero at [email protected]

for more information. What does RCIA mean? The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults prepares adults for entrance into the Catholic Church by the reception of the Sacraments of Initiation: Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist. Through this process, the Church helps seekers in their search for a deeper awareness, knowledge, and experience of God and what it means to be a Catholic in today’s world.
