Priesthood Sunday

(October 25), is a special

day to honor Priesthood in

the United States. It is a

day to say “Thank you Fa-

ther.” It is a call for parishioners to honor Christ as

Priest and the men who were called to be his priests

on earth. It is also a day to honor all religious and to

focus on the importance of vocations. Please keep in

your prayers all priests, those who serve us now and

those who have played such vital and influential

roles throughout our lives.

Thank you Father Dennis

Music Notes

Thank you all so much for doing

such a wonderful job singing every

weekend. As many of you know,

singing hymns is not always that

easy. Many of our hymns have fairly

complex repeat signs, first endings, second endings,

codas, etc. The process of navigating your way

through a hymn can get challenging at times.

One tip I can give you, is to take advantage of our

new hymn board. If you are able to arrive at church

a few minutes prior to Mass, allow yourself the op-

portunity to look over the hymns that are posted on

the board. Become familiar with the structure of

each hymn. Know where your repeat signs are, first

endings and second endings. Even sing them quiet-

ly in your mind. This can also serve as an effective

form of prayer in preparation for Mass.

I also encourage you to approach me any time prior

to or after any of the Masses. I am delighted to an-

swer any of your music reading questions.

The one thing that all liturgical music has in com-

mon is that all of the hymns are rooted either in the

love we have for Christ or the love he has for us.

Reason enough for us to try and sound our very

best. We have such a great singing congregation.

Let us continue to allow the Holy Spirit to guide us

in our joyful singing each weekend.

Andrew Cardona, Director of Music Ministry

I would like to express my deepest

gratitude to our very own Women’s

Auxiliary for their time and hard

work in preparing for, and execut-

ing a very successful Flapjack

Fundraiser and Tricky Tray. This

group has been a mainstay at

OLMC for more than 65 years and continues to

work tirelessly for our parish. Please keep them in

your prayers, so they can continue their good works

for our parish community.

Love,

Fr. Dennis
