“We Care” Blankets

As our wonderful group of “Care Blanket” volunteers continue to meet on Wednesday mornings from 10:00-11:30am at Parish Out-reach, the gifts of their love, time and talent in crocheting and knitting beautiful blankets for se-riously ill children is nothing less than a beautiful thing! Since our group began in November 2009, the completed blanket count stands at 3,323. I’m sure in no time at all we will be adding to this amazing number. Thank you to our lovely group of ladies for all the good work you do to bring love and comfort to many children undergoing cancer care. Outreach is happy to accept donations of crochet hooks, and is especially in need of acrylic yarns in support of this effort. If you are interested in joining our group please contact Parish Outreach at 516-541-1260.

“Ministry of Consolation”

Our parish is richly blessed to have gathered a wonderful group of volunteers who make up Our Lady of Lourdes “Ministry of Consolation” team. The most valuable gifts we can give are those that come from the heart. The precious gifts of our time, love and compassion are es-pecially needed during the time of the loss of a loved one. Created to provide warmth, caring and per-sonal attention to assist families in preparation for the funeral Mass, this particular ministry can never have too many helping hands. Whether your interest be that of a Greeter, Lec-tor or EM, please give some thought as to shar-ing your time and talents and being a part of this ministry’s call to love and care for one an-other. Thank you so much to all our volunteers for embracing this beautiful ministry. Please call Parish Outreach at 516-541-1260 if you would like to volunteer. Thank you for your consideration.

Our Parish depends solely on your generosity to meet each week’s expenses. Our regular Sunday collections account for more than 60% of our operating budget. Your continued support, especially during these difficult economic times, is both needed and appreciated.

University Medical Center, 2201 Hempstead Tpke (Rte 24), East Meadow, NY. Sponsor: Long Island Coalition for Life 516-

tragically aborted at NUMC.

MARCH FOR LIFE 2019 – Washington, DC - Friday, January 18, 2019. Our Lady of Lourdes will be sponsoring a bus to

the March. The bus will leave in the early morning on Friday and return Friday evening at approximately 10pm. A representa-

tive from the Respect Life Committee will be in the vestibule after all the masses the weekend of January 5 th and 6th to sign up

those interested in attending. For information or questions, please call Regina Carbonaro at 516-795-7568.

ROSARY AND ADORATION FOR LIFE: Please consider spending time before the Blessed Sacrament to pray the Rosary

for the conversion of hearts and minds so that all might have reverence and respect for the God-given gift of life, from the mo-

ment of conception until natural death. Please pray for an end to violence in all its forms.

SPIRITUAL ADOPTION: Make a personal commitment to pray daily for one unborn child who is in danger of being

aborted. You are asked to ‘spiritually adopt’ one unknown baby and pray that this child be carried to term and experience the

fullness of life as God intended. Daily prayer: "Jesus, Mary and Joseph, I love you very much. I beg you to spare the life of the

unborn baby that I have spiritually adopted who is in danger of abortion.” (Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen)

HOPE AND HEALING AFTER ABORTION: The Sisters of Life host monthly Days of Prayer & Healing, Gatherings, and

Hope & Healing Weekend Retreats. They include witnesses of mercy, Scripture sharing, personal prayer, opportunity for Sac-

ramental Confession, and the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. Call 866-575-0075 or email: [email protected]

VISIBILITY MATTERS: Weekly prayerful presence at Planned Parenthood, Massapequa - Saturdays 10:30am-12pm, 35

Carmans Rd, Massapequa (across from the mall parking lot). For info: 516-541-8056.

ABORTION PILL REVERSAL: If you know of someone who has taken the first dose of the Abortion Pill (Mifeprex or RU-

486) and regrets her decision, there is help! An effective process called Abortion Pill Reversal is available. It may not be too

late to save her pregnancy. The helpline will connect her with a medical professional who can guide her towards reversing the

effects of the abortion pill. Help is available every step of the way. Call the 24/7 Helpline: 877-558-

0333 See: abortionpillreversal.com

FETAL TISSUE RESEARCH: The Health and Human Services Department (HHS) is reviewing contracts which involve

federal funds used for research involving fetal tissue harvested from elective abortions. In 2015, David Daleiden, through the

Center for Medical Progress (CMP), released undercover videos which revealed representatives of abortion facilities and fetal

tissue procurement companies discussing the sale of baby body parts. Congressional investigations resulted in criminal refer-

rals. Violations included profiting from the sale of tissue, infringing on patient privacy and modifying surgical abortion proce-

dures to obtain certain tissues. David Prentice and Tara Sander Lee, scholars at Charlotte Lozier Institute, recently participated

in the “Fetal Tissue Research: Antiquated and Unethical” presentation at the Heritage Foundation. Proponents of fetal tissue

research fail to mention that most vaccines were made using ‘historic fetal cell lines’ (cell lines made decades ago from an

aborted fetus). Currently, no vaccines are made with fresh fetal tissue. Transplanting fetal tissue to treat diseases and the trans-

plantation of fetal stem cells has been unsuccessful. Fetal tissue research has become a $100 million business with little over-

sight. A Planned Parenthood consent form erroneously claimed that fetal tissue research led to cures for diseases. Advanced

Bioscience Resources (ABR), the oldest continuously operating wholesaler of aborted fetal body parts in the US, has played

middle-man for millions of dollars of freshly aborted fetal body parts since 1989. They pay a nominal fee to the abortionist and

then sell the desired body parts to researchers, charging for shipping, screening and freezing and other ‘service fees’. Prentice

and Lee state ethical alternatives include sources such as the placenta, umbilical cord, amniotic fluid, discarded surgical tissue
