A Note From The Pastor… Please join us this Friday, September 23rd, at 7PM in the
Church for another performance by world-class Catholic
Composer and Pianist, Eric Genuis and Ensemble. Eric was here
last year in October for a Concert that was loved by all. Eric will
also perform a Concert for the school children during the day,
but sea"ng may be limited for guests. The Concert is Free, but
there will be a free-will offering to support Eric’s ministry and
travels. Please consider car-pooling, as the beginning of the
Concert coincides with the end of the Troop 66 Boy Scouts
Spaghe% Dinner (4:30–7PM).
This Sunday, September 18th, is Cateche"cal Sunday. It’s a
day to reflect on the role that each one of us is to play in
handing on the Faith, and being a witness to the Gospel.
Cateche"cal Sunday is an opportunity for all of us to rededicate
our efforts to evangelize, and pass on the Faith.
Next weekend is the Annual Seminary Sunday Second Collec"on. We will welcome Seminarian
Sam McCarty who will give a reflec"on at all of our Masses.
In last week’s column, I con"nued wri"ng about the Renew My Church Ini"a"ve. Specifically, I
men"oned some of the details regarding groupings. One idea in favor of having groupings, is that
parishes should be working together for greater efficiency, so that we can devote more of our
energies towards evangeliza"on, and carrying out the mission that Christ has entrusted to us.
As I men"oned, we have received a proposed grouping of St. Paul the Apostle (Gurnee),
St. Patrick’s (Wadsworth), and Our Lady of Humility. I am in the process of receiving feedback to
forward on to the Archdiocesan Steering Commi$ee. If you would like, we have established an
E-mail for feedback: renew@ourladyo!umility.org.
Once groupings have been finalized, the Archdiocese will provide direc"on regarding ini"al
grouping collabora"on, and what to do before the planning process formally starts for our
grouping. This guidance is likely to include ideas for rela"onship building across parishes (e.g.,
social events), as well as working together to address exis"ng challenges as a result of inadequate
resources (e.g., coordinated Lenten Reconcilia"on Services). In general, ini"al efforts will not be
focused on ac"vi"es requiring significant cross-parish planning, coordina"on, or re-priori"za"on.
Like the To Teach Who Christ Is Campaign, implementa"on will take place in waves, with a
pilot wave beginning in the Fall. Un"l a grouping’s wave begins, those parishes will work on the
ini"al grouping collabora"on men"oned above. Again, I will keep you informed as more
informa"on becomes available. Please pray for the Renew My Church Ini"a"ve, and for all of our
Catechists dedicated to handing on the Faith.
God Bless,
Fr. Paul

A Catechist’s Prayer Father of all families, You have called me to
serve the family in truth and love as a
Catechist. May I be faithful to this call, rooted
in Your Word, and open to the gi$s
of the Holy Spirit.
May I use these gi$s, especially the gi$s of
faith, hope, and love, to serve the family as a
witness to You, who are love and life, and the
source and des!ny of all families.
Let Your Spirit enlighten my mind, and strengthen my heart
so that I can be a path of Christ’s love to families,
especially those in need, the homebound and aged,
the disabled and disheartened.
Through the intercession of Mary and Joseph, I pray
for the Church, the Bride of Christ, whose mission to
build a civiliza!on of love, passes through the family.
Amen.

Our Lady Of Humility Women’s Club News Hello Ladies! As we begin our 2016/2017 Year, I want to thank everyone for your
generosity in the past, and your con"nued support. For those ladies who missed our
September Potluck Mee"ng, and would like to join the Women’s Club, our next
mee"ng will be on Thursday, October 6th, at 6:30PM in the Hayes Community Room.
We would be blessed to have you join our group!
As we begin planning our Holiday Bazaar in November, we’re asking that you please
open up your hearts and help us make it successful. We are in need of new or gently
used Thanksgiving/Christmas holiday items. We arrange gi< baskets that are raffled
off at the Holiday Bazaar. Some of the baskets raffled off in the past, have been a
Movie Basket; an Italian Basket; a Spa Basket; and a Gi< Card Basket containing over
$600 in Gi< Cards. Our goal is to have the same Baskets as in the past, and possibly
adding a Handyman’s Gi< Basket; yet it all depends on the dona"ons we receive. Any
Thanksgiving/Christmas items, Gi< Cards, and items for our Gi< Baskets would be greatly appreciated. We will
keep you informed of specific items we need for our Gi< Baskets.
Please bring your donated items to the Rectory, and the staff will hold on to
them un"l we set up for the Holiday Bazaar. Once again, your Sisters in Christ
Thank You for your dona"ons, and all of your efforts in assis"ng us to con"nue
contribu"ng to Our Lady of Humility Parish and School. May God con"nue to
bless you and your families today, tomorrow, and always!
Rosary Making Ministry The Legion of Mary has recently begun a Kno$ed Cord Rosary Making Ministry at
Our Lady of Humility. More than ten people par"cipated in our first workshop back in
July. The first fruits of our combined labor of love, were donated to Fr. Charles who
brought them back with him to Uganda to give to school children. We invite anyone
who is interested in learning to make a Kno$ed Cord Rosary to the next Donut Sunday
this Sunday, September 18th. Our teacher will be available from 9AM–12 Noon to demonstrate the technique. (An
experienced person can make an en"re Rosary in approximately one hour.)
We also invite those who joined us last "me to come again and make more Rosaries. We have the same six kinds
available as last "me – as well as some new ones.
Rosaries you make for us will be donated to various groups and individuals who request them. However, you are
also welcome to make Rosaries to give away to people you know personally.
Our Lady is pleased when we teach others to pray her Rosary. She wants to shower the world with graces, but
needs our prayers in order to be able to do so. And what be$er way to encourage people to pray the Rosary then by
giving them a Rosary you made with your own hands.
If you have been saving crucifixes from broken Rosaries, and want to donate them to a good cause, we would be
happy to accept and repurpose them.
Nine Reasons to Pray the Rosary Daily:
1. For World Peace;
2. As a means for calling down God’s blessing upon the family;
3. For courage in facing the hardships of life;
4. As a steady means of nurturing and persevering in the Faith;
5. For healing the evils of our day;
6. For learning Chris"an perfec"on;
7. For success in one’s voca"on in life;
8. As a powerful means of obtaining graces from God; and
9. To grow in holiness, and enjoy the special protec"on of Our Lady.
If you have any ques"ons or need more informa"on, please call Mari at (847) 596-2150.

Divine Mercy – Addi"onal Comments
By Fr. Donald Calloway, MIC St. Thomas Aquinas, too, specified that we must perform acts of Mercy,
standing in the Catholic tradi"on that teaches we are duty-bound to
perform Works of Mercy by the natural law (do unto others as we would
have them do to us), as well as by the direct command of Jesus in the Bea"tudes in
Ma$hew 5:7: “Blessed are the Merciful, for they shall obtain Mercy.”
Now, you might wonder how you can heal the sick if you are not a medical professional. The
good news is that in the Catechism of The Catholic Church, that same Corporal Work of Mercy is
noted as “visi!ng the sick”. Just being present and praying is all that is needed. Visit, sit with the
person, and pray. Jesus, Himself, asked the same of St. Faus"na: “Pray as much as you can for the dying, obtain for
them trust in My Mercy, because they have most need of trust, and have it the least.” Without being a medical
professional, you visited, you healed, and you gave comfort.
St. John Paul II recognized the awesome power of saying the Chaplet of the Divine Mercy by impar"ng a special
apostolic blessing “to all the faithful who, during Adora!on of our Most Merciful Savior in the Most Blessed Sacrament
of the altar, pray for the sick, and for all those throughout the world who will be dying in that hour.”
