The Festivity Of The Baptism Of The Lord! This festival is celebrated on the Sunday following the Epiphany and with which the Christmas Time is closed, beginning the Ordinary Time, in which we meditate on Christ, the Savior of the world.

The baptism in the Jordan was for Jesus to leave the silent life of Nazareth and that of his mission. The prophet Isaiah speaks of the chosen one who will promote justice and justice, heal and deliver. The "chosen" was introduced as Messiah in the waters of the Jordan where the word of the Father was heard.

In a very short time the liturgy makes us go from the cradle to maturity. Christ was preparing for his mission for perhaps more than 30 years; a mission that consisted in making the Kingdom of God close to man.

Throughout those years Jesus was discovering his identity. To discover it, Jesus feels a special call, it is what we remember today in the feast of his Baptism.

The feast of the Baptism of the Lord takes us to the beginning of things, to the very genesis of the world. Just as in the begin-ning the Spirit moved on the surface of the waters, in the scene that we contemplate today, we can see the Redeemer of humani-ty submerging in the waters and being pointed out by the Holy Spirit as Savior

Jesus is about to begin his mission and looks for John the Baptist, who preached next to the Jordan. He who was born from the bowels of Mary. Now, when he comes out of the water, he hears Father God say to him: "You are my beloved Son." Just as his Mother introduced him to the shepherds and wizards of the East to adore him, the Father wants to begin to present him to the world, pointing him out as his "favorite".

Today is a special day to ask the Lord to renew our baptism, to live as what through Christ we are "children of God". God bless you !

¡La Festividad Del Bautismo Del Señor!

Esta fiesta se celebra el domingo siguiente a la Epifanía y con la que se cierra el Tiempo de la Navidad, comenzando el Tiempo Ordinario, en que meditamos a Cristo, El Salvador del mundo. El bautismo en el Jordán fue para Jesús dejar la vida silenciosa de Nazaret y el comienzo de su misión. El profeta Isaías habla del elegido que promoverá el derecho y la justicia, curará y librará. El "elegido" fue introducido como Mesías en las aguas del Jordán donde se escuchó la palabra del Padre. En muy poco tiempo la liturgia nos hace pasar de la cuna a la madurez. Cristo estuvo preparándose para su misión durante quizá más de 30 años; una misión que consistió en hacer cercano al hombre el Reino de Dios. A lo largo de esos años Jesús fue descubriendo su identidad. Para descu-brirlo, Jesús siente una llamada especial, es lo que hoy recordamos en la fiesta de su Bautismo. La fiesta del Bautismo del Señor nos lleva al inicio de las cosas, a la génesis misma del mundo. Así como en el principio el Espíritu se movía sobre la superficie de las aguas, en la escena que hoy contemplamos, podemos ver al Redentor de la humanidad sumergiéndose en las aguas y siendo señalado por el Espíritu Santo como Salvador.

Jesús está a punto de iniciar su misión y busca a Juan Bautista, que predicaba junto al Jordán. Aquel que nació de las entrañas de María. Ahora, al salir del agua, oye al Padre Dios decirle: “Tú eres mi Hijo muy querido”. Igual que su Madre le presentó a los pastores y a los magos del Oriente para que le adoraran el Padre quiere empezar a presentarle ante el mundo, señalándolo como su “predilecto”.

Hoy es un día especial para pedir al Señor que renueve nuestro bautismo, para vivir como lo que por Cristo somos “hijos de Dios”. Dios los Bendiga !
