Celebrating the 100th Anniversary of

Our Lady’s Apparition at Fatima, Portugal 1917-2017

Fatima is the most prominent approved apparition of the 20th century.

We have events each month to help us increase our devotion to Our Lady; to encourage the

recitation of the Rosary; to adore our Lord in the Eucharist; to better understand the

importance of evangelization; and to grow closer with one another. Those who practice

devotion to Our Lady on the 13th of the month between May and October will receive a Plenary Indulgence.

We have now moved into our

6th week of the 2017 Annual

Catholic Appeal. The good

news is we have received

pledges/gifts from 223

households! But it means there are still 752

households that have not yet responded - 77% of the

parish! And it’s not too late for you to give!

Your gift can still help the Annual Catholic Appeal

by its support of more than 60 ministries and

services that are offered to thousands of individuals

across Western Washington. If you haven’t already

made your gift, won’t you please consider making a

gift this year? No gift is too small. If you’re unsure

what to give, please consider a gift of $1 a day or

$365 or more.

Go online to www.seattlearchdiocese.org/donate or

use a pledge envelope. If you’d rather call in your

gift to the Appeal Office, they can be reached at 800-

809-4921. Thank you!

GOAL $113,335.

RECEIVED $100,200.

THANK YOU FR. PHIL!

On Monday, June 12, 2017 our Pastor,

Fr. Phil Raether, celebrates the 13th

Anniversary of his Ordination to the

Priesthood.

We wish to thank and congratulate Fr. Phil for his

dedication and service to the Church and to

Our Lady of Fatima Parish!

CONGRATULATIONS

to John McDowall for being

named Archdiocese CYO Athletic

Director of the Year! For 11 years you

have been a strong leader at Our Lady of Fatima by

your presence and support of coaches and athletes

from OLF but also supporting the values and

principles of the larger CYO Athletics

community. We appreciate your leadership!

PLEASE PRAY for Sue Patneaude and

all our parishioners who are recovering

from illnesses.

Names of loved ones can be added to the book of

intentions near the tabernacle.

"When a man steals to satisfy

hunger, we may safely

conclude that there is

something wrong in

society. So when a woman

destroys the life of her unborn

child, it is an evidence that

either by education or circumstances she has been

greatly wronged." Mattie Brinkerhoff

SCHOOL MINISTRY NEWS

Our students have been busy putting their

faith into action!

The kindergarten, first, and second grade classes

completed a successful collection for our neighbors

that are serviced by the Ballard Food Bank. Each

class focused on a different wish list that was

provided by the food bank. They brought in food

staples, food for children for weekends and the

summer, and hygiene items. All three classes plan to

continue this mission project in future years.

Inspired by the main character of the book,

Maniac Magee, the 3rd grade students recently

developed grocery lists of desirable items for the

Pike Place Market Food Bank which they then

collected and delivered during a visit to the market.

The 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade classes held a

fundraiser at Peddler Brewing Company to benefit

the Ekari Foundation which is working to end

extreme poverty in Malawi.

The 6th grade class held a diaper drive to benefit

Mary's Place, and the class that brought in the most

diaper packs earned a recess party with the 6th

graders.

The 7th grade class held a summer drive for

Youth Care and asked students to bring in new

reusable water bottles and sunscreen.

We said goodbye to our Class of 2017 this past

Wednesday as they celebrated graduation with a

special breakfast in the morning and graduation

Mass and reception. We wish all of our graduates the

best of luck as they enter high school. They will be

missed!

Congratulations to two OLF alumna who were

recently honored at Holy Names Academy

graduation:

Mary Gallant, AP Scholar with Honor and

Class Salutatorian

Mataya Skraba, AP Scholar with Honor

The last day of school is Wednesday, June 14. Best
