5 Success Hotel Group
On Expansion Course Since 1995
OUR GROUPThe SHGR was founded in 1995 by Manfred Friedrich for the redevelopment of hotel businesses. In 2007, the change to the classic leasing company followed. Since 2010, we have been focusing strongly on strategic expansion on a national and international level.
The strong family bond within the company still characterises us today: Michael Friedrich, son of the founder, became Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of SHGR in 2014. Since then, he has gradually taken over the family business and has been the sole managing director since 2020. This marks the successful completion of the generation change.
The constant growth and the development of new, modern business fields are driven forward by Michael Friedrich together with a committed and dynamic team consisting of many young, innovative minds and experienced industry insiders.
The SHGR is a licensed partner of international hotel companies and renowned umbrella brands such as Accor, Hilton Worldwide and InterContinental Hotels Group. In the future, we will continue our longstanding successful cooperation with these world-leading hotel giants also abroad: In Austria, Belgium and Switzerland, further franchise operations will be opened under our management in the coming years.
6 Success Hotel Group
Since the foundation of the company, we have been constantly expanding our business areas and are on a steady course of expansion with increasing turnover, team, and rooms.

A sparring partner at eye level: This is how the function of our advisory board can be described. Through the regular exchange with our founder and the advisory board, we constantly put processes and projects to the test. In this way, we prevent both operational blindness and the risk of wrong decisions. We act more refl ectively.
The entrepreneurial advice from outside also provides new impulses: Our advisory board is characterized by valuable experience and expertise, which means that diff erent perspectives are taken into account. This contributes to our approach of using tradition as a success factor for innovation.
Always Well Advised
OUR FOUNDER AND ADVISORY BOARD
For more than 20 years, Prof. Dr. Georg Fundel has guided Stuttgart Airport through all the entre-preneurial challenges as Managing Director. In the process, he succeeded in bringing the airport out of the red and turning it into one of the most successful airports in Germany. With this invaluable knowledge, he now keeps us on course as Chairman of the Advisory Board.
In addition to various spe-cialist and management tasks in Germany and abroad, Hans-Peter Grae-ther was responsible for purchasing in the consumer division of Robert Bosch GmbH for many years. Furthermore, as spokesman for the senior executives, he was a member of the supervisory board of the internationally leading technology and services group. Today he continues to advise Chinese compa-nies as a senior consultant. This makes him the ideal advisor for our constantly expanding company.
Rudolf Bezler is a lawyer and notary. With this dou-ble qualifi cation, he led the law and notary fi rm Menold Bezler as Managing Partner for a decade. His areas of expertise include corporate restructuring and succes-sion planning. This makes him an important consult-ant for our family business in its second generation.
No one knows the company better than he does: Manfred Friedrich is the founder of the Success Hotel Group. He has hand-ed over the management to his son, Michael Friedrich. However, he remains a formative advisor for the development of the com-pany. Thus, we continue to profi t from his immense wealth of experience and extensive network. We ap-preciate not only his know-how, but also his personal contact to the employees.

Managing Director
OUR TEAM
Via barkeeper to CEO: Today, Michael Friedrich is our CEO and Managing Director. Before taking up this position, he fi rst went out into the world to get to know the industry from diff erent perspectives. For example, he lived in South Africa for two years and successfully managed the F&B division of several 5-star hotels there.
When he fi nally returned home in 2007 and joined the family business, he had packed many impressions and ideas, which he initially implemented as Brand & Marketing Manager of the Success Hotel Group. He gradually assumed operational responsibility for the company’s hotels until he was appointed Chief Executive Offi cer and Managing Director in 2014.
Michael Friedrich has maintained his hands-on mentality in this role and is actively working on the integration of innovative technologies for the strate-gic further development of the business areas and for the optimization of internal processes.

DR. THOMAS LEIBChief Acquisition Officer
Authorized Signatory
MARTIN PLEISSChief Revenue OfficerAuthorized Signatory
He knows the way: When it comes to facts, figures and trends in the industry, Dr. Thomas Leib as Chief Acquisition Officer is the right contact person. Since 2001, he has been advising our business partners on locations, brands and eco-nomic factors, thus winning new hotel projects for us.
During his international ca-reer, he gained experience at Steigenberger Hotels & Resorts and Hilton Hotels & Resorts. He became acquainted with the academic side during a re-search and teaching assign-ment as Adjunct Professor and Assistant Director of the School of Hospitality Business Management for the College of Business of the renowned Washington State University.
In 2017, Dr. Thomas Leib was appointed authorized signatory and is a member of the Executive Board.
Vital link: At Martin Pleiss, all the threads from the sales, revenue and mar-keting departments come together. Since 2018, he has been managing all turnover-based areas of the Success Hotel Group as Chief Revenue Officer and has been ensuring that all departments work together to achieve the best possible corporate result. In 2019, he was appointed authorized signatory of the Success Hotel Group and is a mem-ber of the Executive Board.
Before that, the trained ho-tel specialist and state-cer-tified business economist had already achieved a lot within the company: In 2012, he opened the Holiday Inn Express Augsburg as General Manager, success-fully managing it for two years until he joined the head office as Director of Sales. There, he further ex-panded the revenue man-agement division, which he also managed from 2015 as Director of Sales & Revenue. As Director of Means-End Relations, Martin Pleiss also took over the management of the marketing division in 2017.
THOMAS BOSSEChief Development Officer
Authorized Signatory
We can count on him: Thomas Bosse is one of our longest serving employees. The trained restaurant specialist and business economist gained his oper-ational knowledge during his time as Deputy General Manager at the Clubhotel Hochsauerland in Winter-berg. In 2002, he joined the head office of the Success Hotel Group, where he was responsible for setting up the purchasing department and was appointed Director of F&B.
Since 2014, he has been an authorised signatory and a member of the Executive Board. As Chief Development Officer, he is the first point of contact when it comes to the development of new hotel projects as well as equipment and purchasing. In his department, hotel plans are not only designed, but also implemented with determination – and always with a successful mixture of creativity and cost effi-ciency.
10 Success Hotel Group
PETER BELINGDirector of Acquisition
Munich-born: Peter Beling has been with the Success Hotel Group for many years, most recently as General Manager of two of our hotels. At the end of 2019 he moved to the head office as Director of Acquisition. He supports us in hotel de-velopment, evaluates hotel projects according to our location requirements and creates new hotel concepts.
Peter Beling already knew during his studies of hotel management in Brussels that the hotel industry would become his specialty. During his international career he gained experi-ence at the Hilton Hotel in Brussels and Paris as well as at Fleming’s Hotel in Zurich, Vienna and Munich.
HOLGER DÖRINGERDirector of Finance
Really comprehends the numbers: Holger Döringer is our financial strategist, identifies possibilities for budget optimisation and makes potential risks calcu-lable. As Director of Finance, he maintains an overview of the company’s financial position and is responsible for finance, accounting and controlling.
Before Holger Döringer joined our Success team in 2019, the business admin-istration graduate (FH) worked as an authorised signatory and unit man-ager for the finance and IT departments of a trade fair construction company.
GABY MADERDirector of Quality Assurance
With attention to detail: Nothing in our hotels escapes Gaby Mader’s watchful eyes. As Director of Quality Assurance since 2013, she has ensured that both, brand standards and our group guidelines, are adhered to. In close consul-tation with various units such as operational man-agement, housekeeping or maintenance, she works on concepts and tests new products or processes in order to further increase the high quality level of our hotels and restaurants.
Gaby Mader knows the hotel business like the back of her hand, as the trained hotel manager has been working in the industry since 1988 and has gained experience in boarding ho-tels as well as luxury hotels.
11 Success Hotel Group
At home in the south: Marc Riewe has been re-sponsible for all hotels and hotel openings of our group in southern Germany since 2019 and together with Henrik Mészáros, Director of Operations North, forms our operational manage-ment. In close coordination with the executive board and other departments of the head offi ce, he ensures the smooth running of the hotel operations. For the hotels, he is the fi rst point of contact for operational matters.
Marc Riewe has been part of our Success team since 2006, when he opened the Holiday Inn Express Baden-Baden and then successfully managed it for four years as General Manager. In 2011, he took over the hotel manage-ment of the Hilton Garden Inn Stuttgart NeckarPark until he was promoted to Director of Operations ibis Styles in 2015. In 2017, as Director of Operations Accor Franchise, he also took over all other Accor brands in our group until the expansion course led to the structuring of the group into northern and southern Germany.
Pre-programmed success: As Director of Technology, Arno Schuh drives the technological vision of our company. In close consul-tation with the executive board, he evaluates new and growing technologies and their benefi ts for our Group. Digitalisation is just as important as data security.
IT and hotel business, the trained hotel specialist knows both areas very well. Before joining the Success Hotel Group in 2019, he held positions as team leader in the areas of hotel applications and systems support, followed by a po-sition as Head of Network, Security and Datacenter at Accor.
MARC RIEWEDirector of Operations South
ARNO SCHUHDirector of Technology
HENRIK MÉSZÁROSDirector of Operations North
A real northern light: Henrik Mészáros has been responsible for all hotels and hotel openings of our group in northern Germany since 2019 and together with Marc Riewe, Director of Operations South, forms our operational manage-ment. In close coordination with the executive board and other departments of the head offi ce, he ensures the smooth running of the hotel operations. For the hotels, he is the fi rst point of contact for operational matters.
Henrik Mészáros experi-enced the versatility of everyday hotel life through various positions in 4- and 5-star hotels, most recently as General Manager of the Holiday Inn Express Bremen Airport, until he was pro-moted to Director of Opera-tions IHG and Pre-Openings in 2017 and established a branch of our head offi ce in Bremen.

DEVELOPMENT AS A CLEAR FOCUSAnalysis, conception and realisation, our team of experts brings many years of experience experience in all phases of a hotel development. Each project is examined and evaluated according to specific criteria. That is why we know exactly what matters in a project, how much it costs and how long it takes.
On this basis, we create contemporary solutions that have their roots in the tradition-al hotel industry and grow in the long term with the help of modern technologies and approaches. This security is our strength, from which our partners benefit, and forms the foundation for a trusting cooperation.

Our Location Requirements
Every location and every property is individual. We have therefore developed a project selection concept that takes economic, ecological and social aspects into account and prepares our hotel projects for the future.economic, ecological and social aspects into account and prepares our hotel projects for the future.
Basics and Ideas
In order to reliably pursue and control project goals, we defi ne detailed standards and quality descriptions.
The bundled competence from various specialist areas enables us to bring out potential where nobody expects it.
Planning and Visualization
From our ideas we develop fi rst plans. In addition to classic fl oor plan drawings, we also use the latest technologies such as 3D drafts and 3D prints.
Photorealistic visualizations convey the overall concept and the desired atmosphere. We are also working on virtual reality implementations to make an interactive experience with the hotel possible, even before the opening.
Opening and Operation
At our modern head offi ce in the heart of Stuttgart, specialized departments (Acquisi-tion, Development, Operations, Quality Assurance, Purchasing, Sales and Revenue Man-agement as well as Marketing and Communication) work closely with the franchisor’s specialist departments, resulting in short, effi cient workfl ows, a smooth opening and successful operation. A second head offi ce in Bremen shortens location-related distances and enables a regular on-site presence for all projects.
14 Success Hotel Group
From Return on Creativity to Return on Investment
LIVING INNOVATION
In order to remain persistent in a fast-moving society, we try to be one step ahead of the times and reinvent ourselves again and again. We anchor courage and curiosity for the new with cost-conscious and responsible entrepreneurship.
We test emerging technologies immediately in order to assess their impact on the eco-nomic context of the company. In doing so, we separate the trend-setting from the irrelevant.
15 Success Hotel Group
Always at the Cutting Edge of TechnologyWith foresight, we established a state-of-the-art IT infrastructure for the entire com-pany at an early stage. This includes, for example, fast internet via fiber optic network as well as secure server and network access for mobile working with two-stage au-thentication. Our own social intranet facilitates communication and encourages the exchange of knowledge throughout the company.
The technology also enables ergonomic work in the office: each workstation is equipped with two screens and a wireless headset allowing movement during telephone calls.
Future-Oriented Digitization With Own ApplicationsThe full potential of digitization will only be harnessed if it is tailored to individual requirements. That is why we ourselves, together with partners, develop tailor-made applications to optimize our operations. A particular example of this is our own doc-ument management system, which covers exactly those areas and functions that we need in our daily work.
With our digital solutions, we set innovative impulses for more flexibility, but also sus-tainability. For example, we are introducing digital menus that can be adapted quickly and easily so that guests always receive up-to-date information and recommendations. At the same time, we are taking a further step towards a paperless company.
Interactive Brand Experiences Through Virtual RealityBefore a hotel opens, there is a long phase of planning and construction. During this time it used to take a lot of imagination to see the finished hotel. Photorealistic visualizations help to present the overall concept. In addition, we work with 3D printing.
But would it not be even better if the planned hotel is already accessible? What seemed impossible for a long time has become possible thanks to virtual reality technology. We convert our hotel plans into virtual reality so that the planned hotel can be experienced by business partners and guests before the opening. Thus, brand loyalty is strengthened.
Mobile Key Solution of the FutureIn the meanwhile, the smartphone has become our daily companion and is used for many purposes, e.g. as an admission ticket or for contactless payment. Together with a partner, we are responding to this technological development and are working on an app integration of mobile keys on the smartphone for our hotels. In the long term, this app will not only enable digital check-in and replace plastic key cards, but can also be expanded to include other functions such as booking additional services.
Synergy Effects Through System GastronomyIn our full-service hotels, we use a specially developed, well thought-out system gas-tronomy concept that can be ideally integrated into hotel operations. We use precisely defined product groups that interlock and create synergy effects in purchasing and in the central control of all F&B processes.
The system gastronomy concept is successfully implemented in the restaurants of the HANSE HOTEL Attendorn, Hilton Garden Inn Stuttgart NeckarPark, Holiday Inn Express Bremen Airport, ibis Styles Leipzig, ibis Styles Stuttgart and ibis Styles Tübingen hotels. In the next two years, three more hotel restaurants of this type will open in Hamburg, Kiel and Bad Reichenhall.

Growing Together
CAREER AT SHGR
As a franchise partner of international hotel groups, we run a multi-brandportfolio, which enables our employees to get to know hotel brands of different categories: from ibis budget to the Hilton Garden Inn.
A career with us can start as an apprentice, continue as an employee or trainee to become a junior manager and lead up to senior management, both in the hotel or restaurant and in the head office. Thanks to our locations throughout Germany and soon abroad, changing locations is possible.
Thus, we offer our employees varied tasks and a wide range of opportunities to develop their diversified development opportunities. Many of our current managers are the best examples of such a successful career within our company.
It is important to us that all employees feel well supported and encouraged. Only satis-fied employees can represent the hospitality that guests expect from our service and fill it with life.
That we succeed in this is shown by the awards we have received as TOP & OPEN Com-pany on the employer platform kununu.com (as of April 2020). These seals of approval are awarded on the basis of our employees’ evaluations and prove the constructive team spirit in the company.
