Our Family Overview A Note from Fr. His teaching and life has offered immense wisdom to the Church since then. The July, August, September 2020 issue of “Living Faith: Daily Catholic Devotions,” shares a beautiful insight into his living faith and how we might learn from him: “Has not God made the wisdom of the world foolish?” 1 Corinthians 1:20 When Saul saw his years of faithful study of the Law evaporate in a flash on the road to Damascus, everything changed. With his conversion, and name change, “Paul” finds that his only teacher will be “Christ crucified.” Sounds crazy! Few people benefited more from God’s revealing the foolishness of earthly wisdom than St. Augustine, whose feast we celebrate today. For years, he ran from, “the Hound of Heaven,” as English poet Francis Thompson said, until he was finally caught in Jesus’ net. And then Augustine would rejoice: “Late have I loved You, beauty so old and so new!” Let’s all go crazy! (By Miguel Dulick. Reflection: “Wise Up!”) Have we been transformed like St. Paul and St. Augustine? Have we surrendered our lives, our will, to Jesus? Have we given him permission to direct our lives (to heaven)? Where are we in our faith? As we quickly approach the six month mark of COVID’s impact on us, and wait with anticipation the beginning of a very different looking school year, and as we contemplate where we place our trust and faith, may we ask the guidance of the Holy Spirit, who always leads us to the heart of Christ. Our Family Overview

A Note from Fr. Bob, Pastor ♦ The 22nd Sunday in Ordinary Time

This past Friday, August 28, the Church celebrated the Memorial of St. Augustine, Bishop, Doctor of the Church, born in the middle of the 4th Century. His teaching and life has offered immense wisdom to the Church since then. The July, August, September 2020 issue of “Living Faith: Daily Catholic Devotions,” shares a beautiful insight into his living faith and how we might learn from him:

“Has not God made the wisdom of the world foolish?” 1 Corinthians 1:20

When Saul saw his years of faithful study of the Law evaporate in a flash on the road to Damascus, everything changed. With his conversion, and name change, “Paul” finds that his only teacher will be “Christ crucified.” Sounds crazy! Can it be true that God loves us that much, that God’s only will is our salvation, that Jesus would cross the t’s and dot the i’s of Greek philosophy? Few people benefited more from God’s revealing the foolishness of earthly wisdom than St. Augustine, whose feast we celebrate today. For years, he ran from, “the Hound of Heaven,” as English poet Francis Thompson said, until he was finally caught in Jesus’ net. And then Augustine would rejoice: “Late have I loved You, beauty so old and so new!” Let’s all go crazy! (By Miguel Dulick. Reflection: “Wise Up!”)

Have we been transformed like St.

Devotedly yours in Christ, Fr. Bob

One of the most remarkable things about our Faith is that by God’s grace, we have become his

adopted sons and daughters. In your day-to-day life, what does it mean to be a son or daughter of

God—an heir to his promises and blessings? When you sit in the pews each Sunday, what does it

mean to you to be part of his family, the Church? To help you uncover this meaning, Holy Family

Parish will begin an eight-week Bible study Ephesians: Discover Your Inheritance on September

30 at different times during the day. Participants will meet in small groups in Zoom every week to

view an engaging video presentation followed by a time of lively group discussion and fellowship. For

more information or to register, visit www.holyfamilylondon.ca , or contact Gertrud Hocke at

[email protected] . You will not only discover your unique gifts and calling as a member

of Christ’s Church; you will also help us to grow in fellowship as a parish as we grow closer to Christ

together. We welcome all who will gather with us in the church building; we also welcome all who gather with us online. If you choose to join us for in-building Mass, please visit our parish website and register you and your family group online by clicking on the register BUTTON. If you aren’t able to register on-line, kindly call Claudette McLeod at ext’n # 222.

We have been blessed with the continued support of our parishioners, the Diocese and the Federal government. I am pleased to report that as of July 31, our Offertory Giving is at 87% of our projected forecast, and our operational expenses are at just 69% of forecast. Of great benefit to us has been the support we've received through the Canada Emergency Wage Subsidy. To date, we have received over $89,000! In addition to that expense relief, the Diocese has waived over $44,000 in assessments that we would have normally paid. There is still room to contribute to the small

capital campaign we have for our Audio-Visual Production System!

We are pleased to report that some preliminary installation work will start next week for that project. As earlier reported, this system will allow us to provide the excellence that is required in the streaming of our Masses.

Operationally, we continue to follow the guidelines of the Chief Medical Officer of Health for Ontario, the Middlesex London Health Unit, and The Diocese of London, in adhering to the restrictions that are in place for stage three of the province's 'Framework for Reopening Our Province'. Our offices remain closed to the public, so please contact us if you have any questions.

To continue to stay connected in supporting us financially, kindly use one of the following options...

1. Interac e-Transfer, simply set up the email address ‘[email protected]’ as a recipient, choose the amount you wish to give, include in the note section( ‘regular offertory’, ‘bible study’, etc) and press send! No password is required.

2. Pre-authorized automatic withdrawal If you wish to make your Sunday offertory contributions through automatic bank withdrawals, please complete this form and email it and a copy of a void cheque from your bank account to Anne Sanderson, our Bookkeeper, at [email protected]. If you do not have a cheque, please ask your bank to provide the appropriate Form indicating your account number, bank number and branch number.

3. Mail in your offertory envelopes along with a cheque made payable to Holy Family Parish and marking in the memo line “regular offertory donation”.

4. Mobile Giving at Holy Family Parish - Donating to the parish with your mobile phone is easy. Scan this QR code, follow the prompts and you're done!
