This is the first day of Lent. We cometo mass and receive ashes on ourforeheads to remind us that:1. We are sinners in need of forgiveness and we desire God’s forgiveness desperately2. God created us from the earth and when we die our bodies return to it, while our souls live forever with God.

These teachings of Jesus give us a model for how we should treat others… as if they were Jesus in disguise. These are charitable acts that we can do. We are called to respond to the basic needs of humanity as we journey together through this life, especially during Lent. Some suggestions:
