Our CommunityAs residents of Northern Virginia, we are all fortunate to live in arguably the wealthiest area in the history of the world. Yet thereare more than 75,000 of our neighbors who, each day of their lives, face food insecurity. With your support, Food for Others helps

address this need by providing free food to about 1,000 households a week. Food for Others does itswork through a small, dedicated professional staff. We do our work through the generosity of our vibrantdonor base, which consists of hundreds of individuals, businesses and foundations, some of whichcontribute $10 or $50, and some of which contribute hundreds, thousands and even tens of thousandsof dollars. Beyond the critically needed financial support, our donor base also consists of hundreds ofpeople who donate food, and volunteers who ‘roll up their sleeves’ to become part of Food for Othersperforming our work. In 2015 volunteers have spent over 25,000 hours, in our warehouse and beyondin our Community, combatting food insecurity. And, all of these efforts are underpinned by generoussupport from Fairfax County.

These efforts combine to provide direct assistance to the aging, mothers fleeing abusive homes, single parentsstruggling to nurture their children, unemployed men and women, Veterans who need a hand, and to manyothers in our Community.

We are most proud of the work we do. We draw together disparate members of our Community. And together, we address needs ofother members of our Community. Our efforts are powered by the sustaining contributions of time, talent and treasure entrusted toour common efforts.

Fairfax County takes deep pride in providing a robust safety net for its residents, not matched by many other communities. Food forOthers is an important part of that net. For over 20 years, Food for Others has fought, and will continue in the future to fight, hungerin our Community.

Thank you for sustaining Food for Others, as we move forward to continue to help those in our Community who are experiencingdifficult times in their lives.
