OVERSEAS GOLF TRIPSSingapore Senior Golfers Society (SSGS) vs Thailand Senior Golfers Association (TSGA) 2017 Friendly MatchBangkok, Thailand ** 8 - 13 Jan 2017
As always, golfing in the Land of Smiles is tremendously enjoyable because of the well-known friendliness of the Thai people. Upon ourarrival, we headed immediately for Khao Kheow Golf Club where we were warmly received to play our first round of golf.
The following day, we played the Interport match against our hosts from TSGA at the Pleasant Valley Golf Club. Once again, we wereunable to hold off the might of the Thais. Nonetheless, the day ended with a delicious barbecue seafood dinner, complete with wonder-ful entertainment by a Thai band.
That evening we checked into the Bangkok Marriott Courtyard Hotel which was our base for the rest of our stay. The hotel alwaysimpresses with its generous buffet breakfast and fresh fruit juices! The location was excellent with shopping centres and restaurantsare all within easy walking distance.
The following day we played at the newly opened Royal Bang Pa-in Golf Club, operations for which were not stable yet. However, webelieve that it looked promising and will certainly improve in the near future.
Our next and last game was played at Nikanti Golf Club with a unique layout of 3 X 6 hole courses which somewhat helped to speed upthe game.A relatively new club, the buggies at Nikanti had GPS monitors to help us with our game and the caddies were also welltrained with good course knowledge. Well worth a return trip although this is a members club.
