Otanaha fortress was built about 1522.

Otanaha fortress was built on the cooperation of the

Portuguese and the King Ilato.

This fortress is a stronghold of the Kings of Gorontalo

from enemy attacks.

Otanaha fortress is an interesting place which is located up

the hill in the Dembe 1 village, the West City of Gorontalo

City.

From Gorontalo city center is approximately 8 Km.

Travelers can use the public transportation as motor

trishaw (Bentor), taxi, etc it’s about 20 minutes from the

city center.

Every day open, at 07.00 a.m until 06:00 pm, with the

ticket price Rp. 5,000 per person.

The fort is made of sand, limestone and maleo bird

eggs. It is very strong than made from cement.

From Otanaha fortress we can see the sights of

Limboto Lake.

The Otanaha fortress has 348 rungs, The Otahiya

fortress has 245 rungs and The Ulupahu fortress has 59

rungs.

Benteng Otanaha di bangun sekitar tahun 1522.

Benteng Otanaha didirikan sebagai benteng

pertahanan, dibangun atas kerja sama Portugis dan

Raja Ilato.

Benteng ini sebagai pertahanan raja-raja Gorontalo

dalam peperangan.

Benteng Otanaha merupakan objek wisata yang terletak

di atas bukit di Kelurahan Dembe I, Kecamatan Kota

Barat, Kota Gorontalo

Dari pusat Kota Gorontalo berjarak kurang lebih 8 Km.

Wisatawan dapat menggunakan transportasi umum becak

motor (bentor) dengan waktu tempuh kurang lebih

sekitar 20 menit.

Benteng ini terbuat dari pasir, batu kapur dan telur

burung maleo. Benteng ini sangat kuat meskipun

semennya terbuat dari telur.

Dari Benteng Otanaha kita dapat melihat pemandangan

Danau Limboto.
