Dear People of Saint Gilbert’s,

As this school year concludes, we congratulate all the graduates in the Class of 2018 and we offer this special prayer for them.

Prayer of Blessing for All Graduates:

Lord, our God, in your wisdom and love, you surround us with the mysteries of the universe. In times long past, you sent us your prophets to teach your laws and to bear witness to your undying love. You sent us your Son, to teach us by word and example that true wisdom comes from you alone. Send your Holy Spirit upon all our graduates and fill them with your wisdom and blessings. Grant that, having devoted themselves to their studies and other learning endeavors, they may share what they have learned. With your help, may they work to make a difference in the world. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

SPRED RELIGIOUS EDUCATION FOR CHILDREN WITH SPECIAL NEEDS

MISSION: SERVING THE COMMUNITY

Part of Saint Gilbert School’s mission is for students to serve the community in socially responsible ways. As a service project in conjunction with their Respect Life unit in Religion, 8th Graders made no-sew fleece baby blankets for new moms. The students wanted to participate in the Respect Life Ministry’s Baby Shower event and decided that making the blankets was a good way to show their support. The baby blankets will be included in the layettes which are given to moms of newborn babies who receive assistance at Aid for Women of Northern Lake County in Gurnee.

What is it that is so special about the Eucharist? Although the Eucharist appears to be simple bread and wine, it is actually the “source and summit” of the Christian life. Presence: The Mystery of the Eucharist explores the truth and beauty of Christ’s real presence in the Eucharist, from its origins in Sacred Scripture, to its profound role in the life of the Church and her members. It is the crescendo of the entire story of salvation.

As we approach the season of summer travel please consider taking the time now to set up an automatic giving schedule. Your consistent support is vital to the fiscal health of our parish, especially during the summer months, when attendance & support is lowest and property maintenance projects are done. This year we will be replacing worn concrete around chapel & rectory as needed; sealing the chapel stairs; repair & repaint chapel

steeple; replace school bleachers; repair leaking section of narthex roof; completely replace west parking lot entryway; and patch east parking lot and

seal coat all remaining areas. With Give Central you can set up a safe, easy and effective recurring weekly or monthly transaction or simply a one-time transaction using your checking, savings, or credit card account. You

can decide how much to give to any collection and make changes any time, day or night. Plus, you can leave your checkbook at home on Sundays. We’re grateful for whatever and however you give; but if you have a choice, please consider https://www.givecentral.org/location/378
