Seven of them were in the daily meal program, eight in the individualized school program. Eleven (11) children were accepted in the program and 11 were dismissed due to disciplinary reasons.

This report includes the activities taking place at Orran Yerevan for the months of January to June.

1. GENERAL REMARKS

During this reporting period, the total number of the daily beneficiaries at Orran Yerevan

increased to 164. The table below shows the details:

The following changes in the daily meal program took place:

Forty (40) new children were accepted and assigned accordingly into junior, middle

and senior groups. Some are in the meal program, only.

Twenty-four (24) children were dismissed from the program.

One hundred twelve (112) children were in Orran. Seven of them were in the daily

meal program, eight in the individualized school program.

Eleven (11) children were accepted in the program and 11 were dismissed due to

disciplinary reasons.

The department of education held weekly meetings. The team discussed individual cases and

addressed organizational issues and problems.

2.1.1 Classes

Orran’s children are divided into 3 classes according to their age group. Each class is led by a

teacher who is responsible for overseeing the daily preparation of the children’s homework,

and their involvement in educational and cultural events. The teachers are assisted by

volunteers.

During this semester the employees of Coca-Cola Hellenic Bottling Company Armenia,

AUA students, students of the Armenian Educational Foundation, students of Manoogian-Demirchian

School in California, as well as students of the AGBU program actively participated and volunteered

in events and educational programs held at Orran Yerevan.

3.Cultural Education

3.1. Events

During this six-month period, Orran hosted a number of events and attending guests. Orran

children were also invited to participate in cultural events outside of Orran.

In the photos below is the description of the events.

In January, together with our volunteers Levon Harutyunyan and Samvel Grigoryan, the

children had a lesson called '' Ecology and its Problems". They also visited the State Museum of Nature,

where numerous unique samples of Armenia’s complex and diverse nature were displayed.

On January 3, Orran's children visited Yerevan's Primary School NO. 33 after M. Nalbandyan where the lessons on "Skills of Life", " Road Safety and Security Issues" for their peers were conducted.

On January 21, Ruzan Nikoyan, the teacher of Orran's Computer and Mathematics classes held

a contest at Orran assessing the level of computer skills and knowledge of the beneficiaries.

On January 24, Orran's volunteer, Kassia Sargsyan, made a presentation called "Skills of Life", and spoke about the celebration of holidays in Germany and Armenia.

On January 27, the 25th anniversary of the Armenian Army was celebrated at Orran. The event was attended by Orran's children and the elderly beneficiaries. Everyone listened to the patriotic songs and poems and the children danced kochari https://www.facebook.com/Orran-120120114671574/?fref=ts

On February 2, our dear friend Tigran Tsaturyan, visited Orran bringing blessings in the form of crosses from Jerusalem for Orran's children and staff.

On February 9, students of State Song Theater of Armenia led by Sergey Grigoryan visited Orran. They distributed sweets, stationery and clothing to Orran's children.

On February 10, the Boom-Boom clowns came to visit Orran and everyone was in high spirits. The visit was initiated by Orran's former student Marine Galstyan who has been working with Boom-Boom for a year. Marine expressed her gratitude to Orran and her willingness to help children here.

On February 14, Orran celebrated Tyarndarach

On February 16, the RA Minister of Education and Science of, Mr. Levon Mkrtchyan, visited Orran. He toured Orran, had a friendly conversation with children in the handicraft groups and in classrooms and promised to visit Orran again.

Like every year, this year as well, Orran's children wrote letters to soldiers serving in various military units in Artsakh .

On March 3, a multiple Champion of Armenia and international championships, the Champion of the CIS, World Champion, World Champion and World Cup winner, Glory 10, WCK World Champion, World Champion WLF (WuLinFeng), Muay Thai's professional fighter Melsik Baghdasaryan visited Orran. The children welcomed the champion with great enthusiasm and sang for him. Melsik told the children about the difficulties he faced on the way to his victories in sports and in life.

On March 17, students of Orran's media group met Nara Mkrtchyan, the radio show hostess of

a very popular TV show called Image. She kindly answered all the children's questions and promised that they would discuss a new topic during the next meeting.

On March 20, the premiere of "Don't Leave Me", in which Orran's student Manouk Saghatelyan was participating, took place. Orran's staff was present at the performance and shared their impressions with great pride. This year, along with the Small Theater's Group, Manouk had dance performances in several countries such as England, Kazakhstan, and Georgia. Manouk enjoyed the love and adoration of many spectators.

On March 23, a workshop organized for Orran parents took place. They discussed the role of parents in children's education, upbringing, hygiene, healthy lifestyle, social and psychological issues. Orran's Founding Director Armine Hovannisian welcomed the parents and talked about the issues related to their children. Before moving on to the seminar's agenda, Orran's theater group presented a performance of H. Tumanyan’s tale called "The Dog and The Cat".

On March 24, the Coca-Cola Hellenic Bottling Company of Armenia and Orran signed a memorandum to extend their long-term partnership. According to the new agreement, the employees of Coca-Cola will volunteer to support Orran's children. They will also participate in cultural and extracurricular initiatives of the charitable organization.

On April 13, the RA Ministry of Education and the National Aesthetics Center held an art contest. Orran's winners were awarded with diplomas and encouraging prizes. The works of Orran children were awarded with the best prize by the Ministry of Education and Science.

On April 15, Orran celebrated Easter. It has become a tradition for Orran's children together with the staff, to set a table with their beautiful handmade cake symbolizing the feast. Orran's students sang Armenian folk songs and danced.

On April 18, Orran’s football fans were present at the Armenian Cup 2016-2017 match. The initiator of the event was Satine Manukyan.

On April 21, Orran's children organized a beautiful event to celebrate the spring holidays. There were many moving moments during the performance as the children danced with their mothers.

On April 24, like every year, the staff and children together marched to

Tsitsernakaberd to commemorate the genocide and honor the victims.

On May 5, the employees of Ingo Armenia visited Orran bringing clothes and distributing them with love to Orran's beneficiaries.

On May 6, several employees of HSBC Bank visited Orran as volunteers to organize and conduct

interactive learning games with the IT and Math students of Orran. Both Yerevan and Vanadzor

centers took part. The meeting was aimed at strengthening the children's knowledge in

mathematics.

On May 11, the benefactors of our English group, Polina Kurdyavko together with her husband

Alessandro, came from England and visited Orran. They gifted a year of sponsorship to Orran’s

English group. The sponsors visited Orran's handicraft groups and classes and got acquainted with

the children. The English group's students surprised them with a short performance. We thank

Polina and her husband Alessandro for their support in upgrading the children’s English language

skills.

On May 15, the American University of Armenia hosted representatives of different organizations to share with AUA students volunteering opportunities with their respective organizations. The event was aimed to present the work of numerous organizations and attract new volunteers. Orran representatives took part in the event.

On May 15, ATV channel's " Semi-opened windows" presented Arthur Sukiasyan's life, family, and the difficulties they faced. Arthur was one of Orran's first beneficiaries.

On May 20, students of Orran’s pottery group, accompanied by their teachers, visited Ernest

Voskanyan's studio and participated in the preparation of Fatato pottery houses followed by

delicious sweets.

On May 27, Orran, for the second time, organized a mini-football charity tournament on

the occasion of the International Children's Rights Day, aimed at securing funding for summer

camp for approximately 210 Orran children both from Yerevan and Vanadzor. Various

organizations including Coca-Cola Hellenic Bottling Company of Armenia, FMD K & L Europe,

HSBC Bank Armenia, ROSGOSSTRAKH-ARMENIA, Armenian media team, ZEPPELIN

ARMENIA (LLC), and “GNC-ALFA -Rostelecom Armenia participated in the event and rallied

around one central idea of helping children in need. The field was generously provided to Orran

by the Hovnanian family. The Electric Network of Armenia donated money to organize the

event.

Tashir Pizza also contributed to this charitable event by delivering delicious pizzas. Coca-Cola

Hellenic Bottning Company Armenia provided non-carbonated beverages. The competition was

quite tough but enjoyable.

The awards were handed out by football legend Khoren Hovhannisyan, CEO of Hovnanian

International Nina Hovnanian, the founders of Orran Benevolent NGO Armine and Raffi

Hovannisian, and President of Electric Network of Armenia Artem Muradyan.

On May 22, the younger students of QSI Iinternational School of Yerevan visited Orran. The

QSI students together with Orran’s young students, cleaned the garden, sang together, danced

and ate delicious ice cream.

On May 26, the members of Helios Medical Center visited Orran. They held an

interesting training session called "Hygienic Hand and Foot Care". At the end of the event, all the

children received gifts and sweets.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to the employees of Helios Medical Center for making Orran's

children happy, for the knowledge they shared with the children, and for all the gifts that were

given to the children under the guidance of Chief Physician Helen Azaryan.

On May 27, Stefani Boorujian, the broadcaster for Ksee24 News, visited Orran. Within the framework of the program, she and her colleague toured and prepared a story about Orran. Orran students welcomed the guests with patriotic performances and presented their work in groups. The story was aired on Frenso news.

On June 1, the American band “System of a Down” began their European tour. Serj Tankian wrote on his Facebook page that the group intended to present the money that they collect from selling VIP tickets to Orran programs. We thank Serj and the team for their generous initiative.

For the 17th year, Orran celebrated Children's Day on June 1 with great enthusiasm. Notable people such as actors, singers, journalists and Orran friends gathered in Orran's courtyard where "Marriott Armenia" hotel headed by chef Nicholas Pukhtua organized a celebration for the children and the guests preparing delicious hamburgers for them. The Coca-Cola Hellenic Bottling Company Armenia donated refreshing drinks and the Tamara company provided delicious ice cream. This year for the first time the Bari Samaratsi company joined Orran, and prepared delicious sausages and gift-bags for the children. The children greeted them with great joy. Christoph Spech retured the piggy bank that the kids had made for him, filled with money which was collected as penalty from Coca Cola staff. The children had an unforgettable day with their beloved champion Nazik Avdalyan. The event ended with a beautiful flashmob organized by the children.

Arevner Song Ensemble gave Orran's children and their parents concert tickets. Orran's students were delighted to attend the concert on June 5th. Heartfelt thanks to Arevner Song Ensemble for making Orran's children smile.

On June 8, at the initiative of the Education Department and the Volunteers of Teach for

Armenia Program Aram Arakelyan, the students of the Leadership group attended Tumo Park.

The topic discussed was about motivation. Young leaders shared their views and knowledge on

the subject and spent an inspirational day together.

On June 9, the students of Orran's media group visited the editorial office of asekose.am . They toured the shooting pavilions, took part in the preparation of the program, learned the nuances and secrets of the work, discussed with the professional TV hosts Ani Harutyunyan and Lilit Hakobyan the importance of broadcasting work and accurate accent on voice. Thanks to asekose.am staff and Aram Harutyunyan for the warm welcome and for sharing their professional knowledge with Orran's children.

On June 10, the students of Orran's junior group performed "Wash till it Pierces" tale which

was staged by the junior group volunteers and the 3rd year students of the Ergotherapist

Department of ASPU.

On June 10 , broadcaster Erna Elizbaryan visited Oran and conducted a master class with the

students of the media group on broadcast communication policy, issues of ethics and rules of speech. In

order to make speech more interesting, each of the children appeared in the role of a TV broadcaster.

We express our gratitude to Orran's beloved friend Erna Elizbaryan for sharing her knowledge with us.

On June 14, Mekhsian Haig, Abrahamian Robert, Saringulian Erika, Anielian Emily, Momjian

Natalie, Danielian Sophie, Yaralian Alexandra,Yaralian Lilia, and Ardjian Anahit, the students of

Manoogian-Demirdjian School in California, visited Orran accompanied by their teacher Anna

Yaralian.

Before coming to Armenia, the school’s "Helping People Through the Arts" club and the Students

Council organized a "Shoe Drive" charity fundraising. Alexandra and Lilia Yaralian, co-presidents

of "Helping People Through the Arts," volunteered at Orran last year and were inspired to begin

this fundraising activity based on their volunteering experience. The students donated 150 pairs

of shoes to Orran beneficiaries. Getting acquainted with the social conditions of the children, the

students decided to buy a washing machine for one of the children whose mother had problems

with locomotor apparatus and was in a disability wheelchair. Volunteers Hayk and Robert helped

to get the washing machine to Marushik's rented apartment.

More friends joined Alexandra and Lilia to volunteer at Orran for three weeks and bring support

to its beneficiaries.

The farewell ceremony was both emotional and unforgettable as each group presented a musical

performance supported by the volunteering student.

On the same day, Orran's children sang a song to Anna and greeted her with love as they all

celebrated Anna Yaralian 's birthday together.

We thank Manoogian-Demirdjian School’s Pedagogical Staff and the Parent Council, the

Headmistress of the school, Mrs. Arpi Avanessian, for the care and warm feelings shown to

Orran's children.

On June 14, Orran children accompanied by their teachers, attended a concert by the children's beloved singer Taline from America. We thank Taline for inviting Orran's children to her concert in Armenia.

On June 15, Orran welcomed its close friends and benefactors Vakian, Gumds, Pilavjian, Baran, Peled, Atmaca, Cherkezian, Anan, Sezgin, Ozuncackiel, Shemnassian, Mahserdjian, Vanerian, Shakelian, Aginian, Shorvoghlian, and Barseghian who have been friends of Orran for many years. The guests and children together ate a delicious meal in Orran's yard as the children welcomed the guests with their performances. They congratulated Alvard Barseghian, Sayat Ozuncackiel, Hasmik Baran, Ani and Saqo on their anniversaries. The young and talented Maral Ozuncackiel surprised everyone with her performance. The day was also symbolic because Orran's computer classroom was reopened with the help of Maor Pled. The children will now work with brand new computers. Sincere thanks to Maor for giving us such an opportunity.

On June 22, the Megeryans together with their friends and relatives visited Orran. They visited

our handicraft workshops and classrooms. They watched the performances of our children and

elderly people with great pleasure.

On June 24, Orran's Theater group students performed H. Tumanyan's "Brave Nazar" tale. The director

was Janna Tamizyan.

On June 26th, the American Corner in Yerevan hosted six Armenian non-profit

organizations, including Orran. During the presentations the NGO leaders shared their

experience of providing support to the most vulnerable layers of society. The Founder and

Chairman of Orran Benevolent NGO, Armine Hovannisian, was one of the speakers. The event

was aimed to raise awareness and discuss the possible ways to contribute to the development of

our society.

On June 27, students from the Armenian School in Fresno together with their parents visited

Orran.They visited Orran’s handicraft workshop and together with the children sang songs and

recited poems about their homeland.

On June 28, the students of Orran's theatre group performed a fairy tale on the motifs of Hovhannes Tumanyan's "Brave Nazar" tale at "Gitun plus kids" Children's Development Center. The Center's staff was impressed with the performance. We express our gratitude to the Development Center for hosting Orran's children for the second time.

On June 29, 16 selected Orran students accompanied by teachers visited Coca-Cola Happiness Factory of Coca-Cola Hellenic Bottling Company Armenia. The visit was very interesting and

informative for the children. They learned how their favorite drinks were made, saw how the

conveyer system worked, followed up the storing process of the final products, etc. We thank

Coca-Cola Hellenic Bottling Company Armenia, the employees of the Company and Orran's

beloved volunteers Anahit Tunyan and Ruzanna Baldryan for the unforgettable day.

On June 30th an art exhibition entitled "Orran's Colors" was held at Jean Paul's Exotic Café.

Art work by Orran students from the painting group was displayed for visitors. The children also enjoyed the hospitality of the Café. We thank Aram Harutyunyan, proprietor of Jean Paul for an engaging initiative.

4. Social services.

During this reporting period, social worker Marina Ghazaryan reviewed the cases of

beneficiaries including both the number of elderly and children attending Orran. She

conducted social work with 90 families. She also visited the homes of 29 Orran children to

reassess their living conditions.

Within the frame of the Armenian Eye Care project, one of our elderly beneficiaries,

Sargis Semerjyan, received an eye operation. The surgical operation took place in Hrazdan city

with Satine Manukyan accompanying the patient. The post-operative visits were also made by

the beneficiary. The Armenian Eye Care project and their caring physicians did their best to

restore Sargis Semerjyan's eye sight. We thank the Armenian Eye Care project for caring about

the health of the Orran beneficiaries. During this reporting period, several visits to "Sourb

Astvacamayr", "Sourb Grigor Lusavorich", Armenia Medical Center and Antituberculousis centers

were made to learn about the beneficiaries' health conditions. The visits also helped to meet our

beneficiaries' parents at different Medical Centers and have additional communication and

cooperation opportunities with them.

5.2 Psychological

During this semester Nana Avagyan, Orran's psychologist conducted individual and group work

with the children of middle and senior groups, made preliminary psychological assessments of

new beneficiaries included in the program as well as revised and updated the corresponding

information in the beneficiaries' records.
