Origins of Hospice on PEI The Island Hospice Association was incorporated in July 1985 and changed its name to the Hospice Palliative Care Association of Prince Edward Island in Today, we are known as Hospice PEI. National body advocating for hospice palliative care services on the National level CHPCAs Vision is That all Canadians have access to quality end-of-life care There are more than 300 existing hospice palliative care associations across Canada What is Hospice PEI? Province-wide volunteer organization celebrating 30 years of assisting Island families Registered charity and relies solely on its own fundraising efforts and public donations In 2014 our trained volunteers provided over 8,000 hours to over 500 Island families What Support do Volunteers Provide? Support to palliative care clients in all care settings including long-term care, hospitals, the clients home & the new Provincial Palliative Care Centre Support to committees of Hospice PEI as Board Members, Event support, Public Relations, Grief Support, And Chapter Advisory Vision and Mission of Hospice PEI People across PEI accessing the support, care, and bereavement services they want, in the setting of their choice, whenever a life- limiting illness affects them -- from diagnosis to the time following death. Hospice PEI is a volunteer- driven organization assisting people in PEI by preparing, supporting, and caring for those affected by a life- limiting illness before and after death.
