Le lièvre et la tortue (document informatisé). D'après lafable de Jean de la Fontaine. (Collection Living Books).Mississauga : Random House of Canada (CFORP), 1994.No de commande DID-549-CD (39,95 $ DOC).

The hare, always busy and always in a rush, challengesthe tortoise, slow but steady, to a race. This trilingualversion (French, English, German) of the classic fable ispresented on CD-ROM in the form of an animated storythat can be simply for listening as well as for interacting. The interactive option is worthwhile, although itsometimes acts like the hare itself, constantly stopping enroute only to forget where one began. There are numerousinteractive components: one can click on words in thestory to hear them pronounced individually, one can clickon the various characters in the story as well as thebackground objects, which, with much humour, becomeanimated, speak, cheer for or discourage the maincharacters, create sound effects, begin to play music orsing in chorus. The tone and speed of the narration isquite natural, the musical accompaniment adds to thestory, and the illustrations are interesting and inviting. The CD-ROM is accompanied by an illustrated bookwhich presents the print version of the story.
