Organisational Change Facilitation

for the Development Sector in South Asia

The Organisational Change Facilitation Programme (OCFP) is a programme with a focus on theory and hands-on experience with a strong emphasis on application in your work place. The program develops competent organisational change facilitators to act as catalysts and creators of responsive organizations that continuously learn from development practice. OCFP will enable individuals and organizations to creatively engage with change in a planned way in order that organizations remain relevant and effective.

Programme Objectives OCF Programme has the following objectives 1. To capacitate individuals to be more effective in implementing planned

change in development organizations.

2. To support individuals to develop inter-disciplinary perspectives on and skills for organisational change facilitation.

3. To develop organisational change facilitators as self directed learners.

Achieving these objectives will contribute to

2. Strengthened institutional governance

3. Leadership development

4. Organisations that are more tuned to the needs of the development sector and change accordingly

5. Effective programme management

OCFP is for

• Executives working with NGOs/donors/government programmes /

CSR organizations

• Social entrepreneurs / founder leaders of organizations

• Professionals and operational heads engaged organisational

development in NGOs • Professionals working in training and organisational development

support

Programme Structure

The OCF Programme is spread over 15 months. During the first 11 months, The participants will be engaged in 4 modules of 2 months each (see schedule). Each module comprises of a 6 - day learning event followed by post-event activities which the participant is expected to do at her/his work place. In addition there will be e- learning sessions planned between the 2 modules. Participants will be required to implement an application project related to Organisational Change Facilitation, apply learning, document their experiences and present them to a Review Panel. Participants will be supported by experienced Mentors to help develop better understanding of theories and practice of change facilitation in the field

Guiding Perspective

The fulcrum of organisational change facilitation is the SELF, the change

facilitator. The change facilitator is situated in a particular organisational and

social context. The change facilitator learns process facilitation through a four

step process as indicated. ‘Appreciation’ (valuing what is) -

appreciating the relevant theories and

experiences

‘Assimilation’ (internalizing the

learning process) - internalizing what is

important from self and organisational

context

‘Assessment’ - diagnosing and

evaluating what will work in a given

organisational/ social context and the

role of the change facilitator therein

‘Application’ - intervening and learning

from that experience

Medium of instruction

The medium of instruction in the learning events being English, basic English comprehension and communication is necessary. However, in order to enhance better understanding other languages may be used. Reference materials and handouts will be in English

The faculty group can communicate/ understand Hindi, Kannada, Telugu, Gujarati, Malayalam, Tamil, Bengali and Punjabi to help participants assimilate learning.

Those selected will be informed by 30th October 2012 and are required to remit the contribution amount by cheque/demand draft favouring ‘HID Forum’ payable at Bangalore or through direct transfer, on or before 5th November 2012. • Tejinder Singh Bhogal: 30 years in the development sector; has

organised rural communities around socio - economic issues; provides OD and HRD support to developmental organizations. He can be contacted at [email protected]

Advisory Committee • Anuradha Prasad: 30 years of experience in the development field;

process and institutional development consultant. • Archana Srivastava: 23 years of experience in the development sector,

focused mainly on transforming capacities of grass root functionaries, staff members of NGOs, children, women, persons with disabilities and disaster victims .

• Vartika Jaini: 15 years of experience in the development sector, focused

on livelihood and tribal communities. She is interested in institution building in non profits and community based institutions.

• Vijay Parmar: 28 years of experience in the development sector with

grass-root initiatives empowering Dalits, Adivasis, other marginalized communities and has organized them into cooperatives around agriculture, forestry, savings & credit, fisheries etc.

• Vivekanadan G: 30 years of experience in livelihood and development

focused work with fishermen communities, fishermen cooperatives and trade unions, NGOs working for environment and coastal protection.
