Materials Lesson Objectives
• Sample Dialogue
• Simplified Pizza Menu
• Copies of 3 sizes of plain pizza crust and toppings• Pizza game & dice for each group
• Identify size of pizza and toppings
• Demonstrate how to order a pizza including the size and the
toppings by role playing
Warm Up and Objectives Discussion
Hand out sample menus. Ask the students if they like pizza and if they’ve ever ordered pizza before in their country. Ask them which are
some of their favorite toppings. Are any of these toppings different from those accustomed to? Help them pronounce each topping. Ask if
these are typical toppings in their native country. Have them point to the topping when you call out that topping. Look around and make
sure they are pointing to the correct topping. Now help them pronounce the question for ordering the pizza. Repeat for pronunciation.
Tell students that today they will learn how to order pizza in a famous New York Pizzeria. You will learn typical American toppings for pizza
and the typical sizes to order at a pizzeria. This is important , because if you want to eat in another country you need to know how to
order food!
We will determine proficiency in ordering in a role playing exercise where the students will order a pizza with each other.
