the grave. Awake and sing, you that dwell in the dust, for the

enmity of the grace is slain by Christ!” Matthew Henry

"If Christ is risen, nothing else matters. And if Christ is not risen,

nothing else matters." Jaroslav Pelikan

The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But

thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus

Christ.

Confession of Faith…………………...Heidelberg Catechism Q&A 45 Pastoral Candidate, Andrew Sarnicki

Leader: What does the "resurrection" of Christ profit us?

People: First, by His resurrection He has overcome death, that He might make us partakers of that righteousness which He had purchased for us by His death; secondly, we are also by His power raised up to a new life; and lastly, the resurrection of Christ is a sure pledge of our blessed resurrection.

Therefore we must pay much closer attention to what we have heard, lest we

drift away from it. 2 For since the message declared by angels proved to be

reliable, and every transgression or disobedience received a just retribution, 3 how shall we escape if we neglect such a great salvation? It was declared at

first by the Lord, and it was attested to us by those who heard, 4 while God

also bore witness by signs and wonders and various miracles and by gifts of

the Holy Spirit distributed according to his will. 5 For it was not to angels that God subjected the world to come, of which

we are speaking. 6 It has been testified somewhere,

“What is man, that you are mindful of him,

or the son of man, that you care for him?

7 You made him for a little while lower than the angels;

you have crowned him with glory and honor,

8 putting everything in subjection under his feet.”

Now in putting everything in subjection to him, he left nothing outside his

control. At present, we do not yet see everything in subjection to him. 9 But

we see him who for a little while was made lower than the angels, namely

Jesus, crowned with glory and honor because of the suffering of death, so that

by the grace of God he might taste death for everyone. 10 For it was fitting that he, for whom and by whom all things exist, in

bringing many sons to glory, should make the founder of their salvation

perfect through suffering. 11 For he who sanctifies and those who are

sanctified all have one source. That is why he is not ashamed to call them

brothers, 12 saying,

“I will tell of your name to my brothers;

in the midst of the congregation I will sing your praise.” 13 And again,

“I will put my trust in him.”

And again,

“Behold, I and the children God has given me.” 14 Since therefore the children share in flesh and blood, he himself

likewise partook of the same things, that through death he might destroy the

one who has the power of death, that is, the devil, 15 and deliver all those who

through fear of death were subject to lifelong slavery. 16 For surely it is not

angels that he helps, but he helps the offspring of Abraham. 17 Therefore he

had to be made like his brothers in every respect, so that he might become a

merciful and faithful high priest in the service of God, to make propitiation

for the sins of the people. 18 For because he himself has suffered when

tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted. 1

We are providing these monthly financial updates in order to keep you

updated with your generosity in 2020.

GIVING AND BUDGET

Please send your tithes and offerings to our Treasurer, Doug Flowers, at

11 Katie Lane, Trophy Club, TX 76262. Simply make your check

payable to "GCPC". You can also give through our website, gcpcfw.org.

Your elders and deacons are mindful of the possible effects of this season

on the finances of our people and the budget of our church. We are

thankful for your generosity!

January: $43,062.65 February: $52,404.18 March*: $45,169 *We were unable to meet the last three Sundays in March, and yet your generosity continued. The

people of GCPC continue to encourage us in so many ways and we are grateful to God for you!

About This Service:

Your leaders believe that our theology and ecclesiology (even our

sacramentology) do not encourage or even have an allowance for “doing

church at home”. We believe corporate worship is divinely unique. There

is a real, spiritual, Christocentric, God-ordained reality and benefit when

we gather together on Sunday morning. This is why we believe it is the

most important meeting all of us take part in every week.

But these are unique times, to say the least.

Your elders believe that we should provide something that is close to

what we take part in when we gather.

Again, we don’t believe that there is a replacement for corporate

worship. But we do want to seek to provide for you guidance, comfort

and nourishment regularly.

This is temporary. We do not plan to offer the streaming of our service

once things return to normal, by God’s grace.

Welcome!

Andrew Sarnicki, his wife Julia and son Owen are now a part of our

church family! You’ve “met” him in our weekly update and saw him

leading us in part of the service April 5th. Pray for him as he prepares for

his licensure and ordination exams with North Texas Presbytery. Pray for

him too, as he acclimates himself to GCPC and they acclimate

themselves to Texas in these less-than-ideal times. Praise God for their

arrival.
