Repeat tosecure the remaining placemat pieces.4. Attach a walking foot or all-purposepresser foot to the sewing machine. Setthe stitch length to 3.0mm.5. Place a placemat on a cutting mat thathas a diagonal line. Stitch in the ditch between the white and orange strips.10. Trim the quilted placemat to 13” x 21”11. Bind the placemats in the method of your choice.

Embroidery

Use the templates provided to print the designs onto the fabric-like side of Sulky Stitch ’n Stitch. After printing, cut out each design, leaving a ¼” border. Place one design template onto the white section of one placemat. Hand embroider through all layers using a backstitch, switching colors for different parts of the design. After embroidery is complete, rinse the stabilizer under running water until completely dissolved. Roll the placemat top in a towel and let dry flat.

Tip:Thread Conditioner:If you are using Stick ‘n Stitch for your embroidery, I highly recommend using a thread conditioner. There are a few on the market, but the best well known

is Thread Heaven. Before you start stitching with a new piece of thread, simply run it through this conditioner.

Sulky’s Cotton Petites are a single strand thread. I combined two lengths to make a double strand for the text, hearts & various

parts of the graphics.
