HAUNTED BY HISTORY, Vol. 1, “is a stimulating, heavily illustrated account of
the supposed hauntings of eight historic Southern California hotels. Pulling
together historical photographs and original documents as well as firsthand
accounts, the author attempts to verify the ghost stories associated with each inn,
dissecting their origins (often in the late 19th and early 20th centuries) and
recreating the ghostly encounters in glamorously staged vignette photos.
Craig Owens is a Los Angeles-based fine arts photographer, historical researcher,
and blogger of the Facebook page, Bizarre Los Angeles. In recent years, he turned
his creative lens and critical eye on historic and haunted hotels in Southern
California. Not only has Owens emerged as a leading authority on the paranormal,
but his haunted hotel photos have developed a worldwide following.
MEMBER NEWS
On November 8, Terry Ambrose released “The Killer Christmas Sweater Club,” the
third Seaside Cove Bed & Breakfast Mystery. With Christmas just a week away,
murder strikes in Seaside Cove. The cops don't think sending out ugly Christmas
sweaters is a motive for murder, but ten-year-old Alexandra Atwood isn't so sure.
The question is, how does she convince them she's right, and they're wrong?
On Sunday, December 2, 9 a.m., Cynthia Weitz will discuss her two mysteries,
"Feisty Old Ladies" and "Feisty Old Gangbusters." Tune into The Importance of
Being, broadcast on Laguna’s station, 93.5.

Ellen Byron (MARDI GRAS MURDER), Sybil Johnson (DESIGNED FOR
HAUNTING) & Nancy Cole Silverman (REASON TO DOUBT).
Ellen Byron - In MARDI GRAS MURDER, it is Mardi Gras season at the Bayou
with all its parades, pageantry and gumbo galore. But when a flood upends life in
the tiny town of Pelican, Louisiana, and deposits the body of a stranger behind the
Crozat Plantation B & B, the celebration takes a decidedly dark turn. The citizens of
Pelican are ready to “laissez les bon temps rouler” but there is beaucoup bad blood
on hand this Mardi Gras.
Sybil Johnson - In DESIGNED FOR HAUNTING, Halloween is fast approaching in
the quiet Los Angeles County town of Vista Beach, home of computer programmer
and tole-painting enthusiast Rory Anderson. As her painting chapter prepares to open
its annual tole-painting boutique, Rory receive an email from Beyond the Grave, a
company that automatically sends out notices when someone dies.
Nancy Cole Silverman - In REASON TO DOUBT, Carol Childs, a reporter for a
local talk radio station, is in the middle of one of the biggest stories of her life. Her
daughter Cate has returned from college with her photographer boyfriend suspected
to be the “The Model Slayer” responsible for the murder of three young women.
When the police arrest him, Carol’s personal and professional world collide.
