What can we take away?
• Good deal of information given out
• 2-3 talking points most easily remembered
• Sometimes those will be the main points
• Other times, it’s what is most resonant
Talking about yourself
• Intros at meetings or events
• Brief – 60 seconds is good target
• What would audience find interesting and relevant?
Longer autobiographical speeches
• Memorable moments
• Don’t give life story – needs some focus
• Have fun – let personality come through
Introducing other people
• Content is king!
• Get to know the person
• Think through what you want to say
• What is relevant to the occasion?
In-class speaking activity
• What college class did you enjoy the most? Why? What did you get from it?
• Two minutes max
• Pick overall theme, main points, express it in set amount of time
