Two Sundays ago, we finished our study in 2 Timothy in our evening services, and this past Sunday, we finished our study in Philippians in the morning service. Several people have asked about what our next study will be, so I briefly explained what is coming next last Sunday night. Recognizing that everyone was not able to be here last Sunday night, I wanted to explain the details of next year’s study.

My friend and former pastor, Robby Gallaty, with his wife Kandi, developed a resource called Foundations: A 260-Day Bible Reading Plan for Busy Believers. Your first question might be, how did they arrive at 260 days when there are 365 days in a year. The plan is 52 weeks with 5 days of reading each week, and that equals 260 days of reading. To be clear, this is not a complete Bible reading plan, but instead focuses on key passages that will give readers a foundational understanding of God’s Word. Each day typically con-sists of reading 2 chapters, so in a week’s worth of reading, you will read up to 10 chapters.

So how does that affect our studies on Sunday morning and Sunday evening? Each Sunday, I will preach two passages from that week’s readings, one passage in the morning service and one pas-sage in the evening service. So, by the end of November 2017, I will preach nearly 90 sermons covering key passages from Genesis to Hebrews. In December, we will focus on the birth of Christ and cele-brate Christmas.

My motive and desire is for every church member to have a foundational understanding of God’s Word. As Pastor Robby

frequently says, “We want to get into the Word, until the Word gets into us.” Our growth and maturity, as believers, hinges on our study, devotion, and understanding of God’s Word, and I want to spend 2017 growing, and leading our church in growing, into mature disciples of Christ. In the weeks to come, I will give more details as to how you, and your family, can be involved in this journey.

In Christ, Jason

A Message from Carter’s Corner This week in the life of our youth, we are thankful. We are thankful for your prayers for Fall Retreat. It was a spirit-filled, and God-filled weekend full of love, fellowship, and community. The greatest news coming from Fall Retreat was that there were 3 decisions made for Christ. For those 3 decisions, is the reason we take weekend trips and the reason why we invest so much time and effort into this weekend. We are thankful for your prayers, support, and love during this weekend get-away. The next several weeks our youth will be learning about the Christmas story and how this story changed the world as we prepare for our Christmas holiday season. We will have our Progressive Supper on December 21. This year our youth will be splitting up into 4 groups and each group will dress up in costume as a character from a Christmas movie. Each year the entire group comes together for dessert and “dirty Santa” gifts. Again, we will do the same, plus the students will be acting out a scene from the movie the group chooses. But wait….there is an incentive for students who participate in dressing up in costume with their group and acting out a scene. Each student who partici-pates will have his/her name included in a drawing. This incentive will be a free trip on our 2017 Youth Choir Mission Trip to Seattle this upcoming May! Our students are excited about the Christmas holidays and we hope that you will be in prayer for our students during the next month as many of our students will go through Christmas without a parent or a loved one. Please pray that our youth will grow and mature in the ways and teachings of Christ each day at school, at home, and here at our church. ▪Act Justly ▪Love Mercy ▪Walk Humbly
