Hopefully by now, you’ve heard the joyous news that our sweet Cathryn Elicia was born on January 26, 2017. She is healthy and Angela is recovering well. We are so thankful for all the prayers, calls, texts, Facebook likes, messages, and encouragement that you have given us. We are overwhelmed by God’s graciousness throughout the pregnancy and even in these first days of her life. On a personal note, Cathryn’s birth has given me a new understanding of the depth and richness of our Heavenly Father’s love for his children. For all of these blessings, Angela and I are truly grateful. If you are on track with us, we are working through Week 6 in the reading plan. This week’s readings will conclude the Genesis story and then transition to the Exodus story. One background note that you need to know is that 400 years passes between the close of Genesis and the opening of Exodus. At the close of Genesis, Joseph has risen to the number two position in all of Egypt and is a blessing to both Egyptians and Israelites alike. When we turn the page to Exodus 1, generations have passed, the pharaoh doesn’t know of Joseph and his work, but what he does know is that the number of Israelites in Egypt is growing. Fearing that the Israelites will band together and over-throw the nation, pharaoh subjugates the Israelites. Instead of enjoying the blessings of the land during the time of Joseph, now the Israelites are working as slaves in the Egyptian brick pits. As the people cry out to God for deliverance, He raises up Moses to be the leader of the Israelites and to be God’s mouthpiece before pharaoh as God prepares to deliver His people with His mighty hand. This upcoming Sunday morning, we’ll learn more about Moses’ encounter with God in the burning bush. I hope you’ll make plans to join us this Sunday. Keep going in the reading plan and have a blessed week! In Christ, Jason

A Message from Carter’s Corner This week in the life of our youth, we are excited about this upcoming Sunday night. We will be hosting the 2017 Super Bowl Party in our Youth Room on the 3rd floor! This is an open invitation to you, whether you have a student who is a part of our youth group or not, to join us and see our youth room and our students. We would love for you to stop by and hang out with us! We will have food and other games and activities going on during the game. Also, this Sunday night our youth will be practicing on their Valentine Banquet skits in the gym. This year our Valentine Banquet is scheduled for February 12 at 6:00 p.m. We will be serving supper at the event. Our youth will be serving us and plates are $5.00. There will also be a silent auction. All proceeds go directly to our 2017 Youth Choir Mission Trip to Seattle, Washington. We ask for you to join us in prayer this week for our students, as they are in school and many play sports and have extra curricular activities each day. We ask that you pray with us for our students who may not have a family who supports and loves them. We ask that you pray for our adults in the youth group that they will be strengthened each time they lead and teach our youth. Thank you for your support and prayers!
