3 Maintenance

3.1 Maintenance intervals

The cutter grinder must be thoroughly inspected after having stood for more than 4 weeks.

The safety condition and functioning ability of the cutter grinder must be checked by a competentperson

1. before initial operation2. in appropriate time periods (every two weeks)3. after alterations or repairs.

3.2 Maintenance list

The points given here are general maintenance tips. These points are explained in the relativechapters of individual components.

• During annual maintenance, check that all screws are seated firmly and tighten if necessary.Check welding seams on heavily stressed components for cracks.

• Check that all safety elements are complete and correctly secured.

• Check the function of electrical equipment.

• If it is no longer possible to adjust the cup wheel, it must be exchanged for a new one.

4.2 Connection to mains power

Mains power connection is to made by the operator according to EU 60204. The power plug included isto be used for this. Before changing the location, carrying out repairs or work which has nothing to dowith the operation of the machine, it must be switched off and unplugged.

4.3 Check rotational direction of drive

When switching the machine on forthe first time, full attention must begiven to the correct rotationaldirection of the grinding head.

The rotational direction of the the grinding head(pos.2) is shown on the motor top (pos.1). Therotational direction depends upon the phase-sequence of the supply main and this can bevariably connected. Incorrect rotational directioncan lead to machine damage and the machinemust be brought to a standstill immediately.Electrical activities are to be carried out by aspecialist!

Diagram 2: Rotational direction

5 Initial operation

With the following adjustment and checking activities, the cutter grinder must be unplugged from themains in order to prevent unintentional starting.

5.1 Clamping of cutter holder

Always use the appropriate cutterholder for the cutter!

Using the studs, push the cutter holder (pos.3)into the fastening guide until it stops. Now thecutter holder is securely clamped in the guideusing the side locking screw handle (pos.4).Check that the cutter holder is sitting firmly inthe guide and does not wobble. Thisguarantees the cutter is securely seated.

5.2 Clamping of cutter

Always use the appropriate cutter inthe cutter holder!Control lever must be moved downcompletely!

The cutter (pos.5) is placed appropriately on theholder in the guide and against the stopper. Thecutter is pressed onto the cutter holder usingthe control lever (pos.6). To equalize thematerial strengths of the cutter, screw thehexagon screw (pos.7) appropriately onto thecutter. The control lever can now be moveddown with little effort. Check that the cutter isclammed securely to the holder to prevent itcoming loose.
