    John Logie Baird of Scotland andCharles F. Jenkins of the UnitedStates constructed the first true

    television sets in the 1920s bycombining Nipkow's mechanicalscanning disk with vacuum-tubeamplifiers and photoelectric cells

    The prestigious history of Indian

    To the surprise of most people, television

    transmission began almost 25 years beforethe end of World War II. John Logie Baird, inEngland, and C. Francis Jenkins, in the UnitedStates, both made public demonstrations oftelevision in 1925. Unlike post-war electronic

    televisions, these early systems usedmechanical scanning methods.

    Jenkins publicly broadcast moving imageswith his equipment in 1925. His first 10-

    minute broadcast showed in silhouette themotions of a small operating windmill. By1931, he had experimental televisionstations operating in New York and
