Before you get started

We strongly suggest that you read the

entire manual for the Soup Maker/Blender

before commencing use. There are many

useful pointers in this section.

The Goldair Soup Maker/Blender unit has

several functions and is a very versatile

appliance; experimentation will help you to

get the most out of this unit.

Egg/vege holder

Operating your Soup Maker/Blender

The Soup Maker has two programmed

soup settings to create CHUNKY or

SMOOTH soups. It also has a REHEAT

function enabling precooked soup to be

reheated ready to serve.

The built-in BLENDER blades allow the

soup maker to be used solely as a blender

to make smoothies, purees, dips and

dressings.

The Soup Maker is fitted with several

safety features including an interlocking lid

cut-out, a minimum liquid sensor ,a liquid

overflow sensor and a safety micro-switch

cut-off on the motor base.

Before using the Soup Maker for the first

time wipe down the jug and lid with a damp

cloth using a mild detergent.

DO NOT immerse the unit or the jug in

water or any other liquids.

CAUTION: the jug contains very sharp

blades and should be handled with care at

all times.

Place the base unit of Soup Maker on a

heat-resistant, stable surface. Carefully

position the jug on the base unit aligning

the connections in the base of the jug

handle with those in the base unit. The jug

should sit securely on top of the base unit.

Fit the lid to the Soup Maker by aligning

the lock open symbol on the lid with the

datum mark on the top of the handle. Once

aligned, turn the lid in the direction of the

arrows until the lid lock symbol aligns with

the datum mark. There are lid locks on

both sides of the lid and both must lock

over the corresponding point on the jug.

The unit will not work unless the lid is

correctly fitted.

Ensure the measuring cup stopper is fitted

to the top of the lid.

When everything is positioned correctly,

connect the Soup Maker/Blender to the

mains power supply and press the

START/STOP button to turn the unit on.

If at this point the alarm sounds,

disconnect the Soup Maker/Blender from

the mains power supply and check that the

lid is properly fitted and the fluid level is

correct. Once checked, reconnect to the

mains and power up.

Operating your Soup Maker/Blender, cont

Once unit is turned on and ready to use,

choose the function you require by

pressing the corresponding button on the

control panel.

The unit will beep 3 times to indicate the

cooking process has started.

When the cooking or blending is

completed, the unit will beep for several

seconds and the indicator light will flash.

If, during the cooking process, the

indicators blink and beep continuously,

something irregular has occurred:. Check

the following:

• Lid is not properly locked

• No liquid in the jug, triggering the over-

dry sensor

• Jug is not properly placed in its main

body, triggering the safety micro-switch

• Heating base and motor are over-

heated, triggering the overload sensor..

Separate jug and motor housing, let it

rest for 5 minutes to cool down.

• Water or liquids exceed the MAXIMUM

level, triggering the overflow sensor

work. Water or liquid is less than the

MINIMUM level, triggering the minimum

liquid safety sensor.

Note: Cooking times given are for

reference only.

GENERAL TIPS

Add your preferred liquid or stock to the

jug; all liquids and stocks used must be at

room temperature rather than warm or hot.

Make sure the total volume of ingredients

added is above the 0.3L minimum but not

more than 1.7L maximum. The internal

sensor near the base of the jug must be

covered with liquid; under filling the jug will

result in the alarm sounding and the unit

failing to operate. Should the boiling action

during cooking cause the hot contents to

reach the lid, the upper sensor will switch

off the heating function to help prevent

boiling over.

WARNING: Food high in starch or sugar

content can burn onto the bottom element.

It is advisable to add these ingredients

through the food chute after the liquid has

already begun heating.

The cooking time for ingredients that have

been stored at a room temperature of 18°

is approximately 25-30 minutes, however

this is a guide only.

NOTE: the cooking sequences rely on

uninterrupted operation. Any

interruption will result in the

cancellation of the program. Restarting

will result in the cooking stages being

repeated which may affect the final

recipe.

Any ingredients to be added during the

cooking process can be added through the

food chute in the centre of the lid. Do not

unlock or remove the lid as this will stop

the program.

To completely stop the program at any

time, simply press the START/STOP

button.

Once the program has finished, the Soup

Maker/Blender unit will sound an alarm and

stop heating.

Your soup can be poured straight from the

jug but be careful when removing the lid

from the jug as it will be very hot.

WARNING: heat/steam will be emitted

from the lid. Care must be taken when

removing the lid and food chute.

Operating your Soup Maker/Blender, cont

STAINLESS STEEL FILTER

A stainless steel filter is supplied to create further

flexibility when using the Soup Maker/Blender unit.

As a general guide, food inside the filter will be

smoother and food outside the filter will be

chunkier.

Experimenting with the filter is the best way to

discover your preferences.

Placing the SOUP side of the filter at the bottom of

the jug divides the jug into two parts whereby any

hard foods such as ginger will only impart flavour

into the soup. Alternately all food items can be

inserted into the filter to ensure a super smooth

soup.

The filter can also be used to ensure that any food

outside the filter does not get blended to ensure a

super chunky soup such as Minestrone.

Placing the SOYA side of the filter at the bottom of

the jug divides the jug into two parts and creates a

super smooth food as this side of the filter has

very small pores. This is ideal for blending already

cooked foods such as pumpkin or apple to create

smooth baby food.

The filter fits over the ring around the jug blades,

touches the bottom of the jug and is locked into

place by the jug lid.

LIQUID

Add your preferred liquid or stock to the jug; all

liquids and stocks must be at room temperature

when added – not warm or hot.

SMOOTH SOUP/CHUNKY SOUP

Smooth Soup takes around 20 minutes

Chunky soup or porridge or soy milk takes around

30 minutes.

Chop all ingredients into 2-3cm cubes and add to

Soup Maker/Blender jug.

CAUTION: it is not recommended to use

uncooked meats in the Soup Maker/Blender -

meat or fish must be precooked. Do not add any

frozen ingredients; all ingredients must be at room

temperature.

PULSE

You can use PULSE during the cooking process

to blend cooking vegetables. Pressing the

STOP/START button places cooking process on

standby.

After pressing the STOP/START button, press

and hold the PULSE button to blend. Release

button to stop blending.

STEAMING

Pour water to between WATER MIN and SOUP

MIN/STEAM MAX mark into jug, use the

egg/vege holder to place the food to steam.

Steaming takes around 15 minutes.

BOILING

Pour water between WATER MIN and BOIL MAX

mark into the jug. Bring water to the boil and

insert food into the jug through the food chute by

removing the measuring cup in the lid or by

removing lid and placing food inside. Note that if

the lid is removed during operation the unit will

beep and stop. You then need to replace the lid,

ensuring you realign marks on lid with marks on

handle. Press START/STOP and reselect

STEAM/BOILING function. Unit will bring water to

the boil and allow water to return to a simmer.

This process continues for 15 minutes and can be

stopped at any time by pressing the

START/STOP button.

Alternatively use the egg/vege holder and place in

unit and food to be steamed before you start

process. Boiling process takes around 15 minutes.

Note: Cooking times given are for reference only.

Operating your Soup Maker/Blender, cont

REHEATING

Previously prepared soup that has gone cold

can be reheated in the Soup Maker/Blender.

Simply set up the unit as previously described

and add the cooked soup to the jug ensuring

the volume is no less than the minimum and no

more than the maximum.

Connect the unit to the mains power supply and

press the START/STOP button.

Ensure the lid is correctly fitted and press the

REHEAT button.

The REHEAT program will follow the sequence

below:

Heating-Mixing- Heating-Mixing-Heating

This process will continue until the soup is

heated and reaches the optimum temperature of

65°C -75°C, ready to serve. The alarm will then

sound.

The time taken to complete this process will

depend on the temperature and volume of the

soup added but should take approximately 5-8

minutes.

NOTE: The REHEAT process is not a

cooking function and is suitable only for

reheating previously cooked soups.

BLENDER

The Soup Maker/Blender can also be used as a

blender; simply set up the unit as before and

add your ingredients for blending.

NOTE: It is important that your ingredients

reach a minimum depth of 3-4cm so that the

safety cutout sensor does not activate. But

no more than the MAXIMUM. It is NOT

possible to blend dry ingredients, as the

sensor won’t recognize them.

Connect the unit to the mains power supply and

press the START/STOP button. Make sure the

lid is correctly fitted and press the blend button

to start the BLENDER program.

The BLENDER cycle is a repeating 20-25

seconds high-speed blend with a slight rest. To

stop the cycle press the blend button again, or

press START/STOP button.

Troubleshooting

Issue Possible Causes

The unit is not working and beeping 1. The jug is not fitted to the base correctly.

2. The lid is not fitted correctly.

3. There is not enough liquid in the jug.

4. There are spills around the over-flow sensor.

The unit has stopped mid-program 1. The lid is loose.

2. Liquid level is too low due to evaporation during

cooking.

3. Liquid is over the maximum.

4. The jug is not properly connected with the base.

Food is still too large after the cycle is

complete (food is not well blended)

1. Pieces were too large initially; use the BLEND

function after the cooking program.

2. Wrong function was selected

3. Not enough water was added; add in sufficient

water.

The ingredients are hard after the

cooking cycle

1. Chop the ingredients into small pieces before

adding.

2. The wrong soup cycle was used.

3. Too much water or food or filter is clogged.

4. Some foods require longer cooking; select one of

the heating functions to keep the unit working

until food is fully cooked.

The soup is not hot and the cooking

cycle appeared to finish early

1. There was too much liquid in the jug.

2. Movement of the soup during cooking reached the

upper overflow sensor and stopped the unit.

Food is burnt, and stuck to the bottom

1. Caused by high sugar or starch content in the

ingredients making contact with the bottom of the

unit; use ingredients with lower sugar/starch

content OR add the ingredient after the liquid and

put ingredients inside the filter.

2. Too much food and not enough liquid; decrease

solid: liquid ratio.
