See the operating instructions for the whole plant.

    Replacement Parts

In the interest of safety, only original replacement parts and accessories approved by the manufacturer shouldbe used. The use of other parts can change the characteristics of the OSP-P. We take no responsibility for consequences arising from this.

    2. Technical Data

Dimensions, space requirements, weight and other data : See OSP-P catalogue. Operating pressure range : pmax = 8 bar.Speed : > 0,005 m/s.Compressed air requirements : Free of water and dirt. Additional lubrication with oil

mist is not necessary.Accessory supplied : Assembly tool.Noise level : The sound emission values (sound level) of the

    OSP-P are below 70 dB(A).Installation : In any position.Temperature Range : From -10 C to 80 C.The right to introduce technical modifications is reserved.

    Information

With oil mist lubrication, the cylinder must be supplied with oil constantly while in operation.

    3. Design and Function

    Design Features (See OSP-P catalogue)

The OSP-P is a pneumatic working cylinder without piston rod. The load is mounted on a carrier. The cylinder is installed using threads located on the ends or end cap mountings. For long cylinders, additional mid-section supports should be used. The end cushioning has stepless adjustment. The cylinder has permanent grease lubrication.

    Function

The piston is moved by compressed air in the cylinder. The piston is connected to the carrier. The load to be moved is mounted on the carrier. The longitudinal slot in the cylinder is sealed and protected by stainless steel bands.

    4. Transport and Installation

    4.1 Transport

    Danger from falling load

Inappropriate transport and installation of the OSP-P can lead to:- personal injury- property damage

Transport of the packed OSP-P with a crane or fork-truck:

    * Attach the cables or position the forks as shown.

  • Pneumatic Linear Drive OSP-P

    7

Transport of the OSP-P with a crane

    * Attach the cables as shown.

    Information

The transport company and HOERBIGER-ORIGA GmbH or the supplying company must be informed of any transport damage or missing parts immediately in writing.

    4.2 Interim Storage

Dry and free of dust and vibration. In the open - only on a flat surface under a cover. Avoid bending!

    4.3 Installation

Before installation:- remove and dispose of all packaging,- make two strokes of the piston by hand without air pressure.

Carry out the installation in such a way that:- the regulations in force are observed (e.g. DIN EN 983),- the OSP-P is not warped,- all connections and operating parts are accessible,- the company name on the red cover strip and the yellow strip with the instructions are

readable. Sources of danger which arise between HOERBIGER-ORIGA PRODUCTS and the

customers equipment should be made safe by the user.

    Information

No welding work should be done after the installation of the cylinder - the sealing system could be damaged. Remove the cylinder first or isolate it electrically.

Notes on the Application of the OSP-P

Mechanical Fasten the working load to the carrier using only the 4 threaded

holes in the carrier. Position the working load so that the bending moments on the carrier are below the values shown in the OSP-P catalogue. For long cylinders, use mid-section supports.

Avoid forces exerted by loads carried on external linear guidesby using a carrier with clevis mounting.

Electrical Sensors enable your load to be positioned accurately. Fit the sensors so that they are not close to ferritic parts or

moving loads.Use the most favourable mounting slot on the circumference of the cylinder profile.

Pneumatic Actuate the cylinder via two 3/2 way valves or one 5/3 way valve,

normally open. Avoid uncontrolled movements during start-up or after an

unwanted stop - use pressurizing units, soft start valves or similar arrangements.

    Typical Circuits

  • Pneumatic Linear Drive OSP-P

    8

Arrange the control system so that the piston does not travel into a completely exhausted cylinder chamber.

Adjust the piston speed with throttle non-return valves screwed directly into the cylinder.

Use compressed air connections of adequate size.

    5. Commissioning

    Warning

Check before commissioning:- the correct connection arrangements, and- that there is nothing in the way of the moving load.

    Commissioning of a Complete Plant

    * Make two strokes of piston by hand without air pressure,* move piston to middle position,* screw in both valve needles for end cushioning fully* unscrew both valve needles about half a turn,* pressurize plant slowly in order to avoid uncontrolled, dangerous

movements (pressurizing unit, soft start valve ),* adjust speed with throttle non-return valve,* adjust end cushioning with valve needles.

    Commissioning of an Individual Cylinder

    * Make two strokes of piston by hand without air pressure,* move piston to middle position* screw in both valve needles for end cushioning fully, * unscrew both valve needles about one turn,* pressurize both sides equally, piston stops after slight movement,* vent one side, piston travels to end position,* start test run,* adjust speed with throttle non-return valve,* adjust end cushioning with valve needle.

Re-commissioning after long periods without operation

    * Make two strokes of piston by hand without air pressure,* move piston to middle position, * continue as for individual cylinder (above).
