Introduction

• OpenUP/MDD is a knowledge base or a repository of a set of open process elements.

• It is focused on what is specific for Model Driven Development (MDD).

• The content is based on OMG’s MDA™ initiative, but adapting this approach to provide a more practical implementation.

• OMG’s terminology has been used for avoiding terminology misunderstandings.

Objectives

• Provide a structured set of MDD engineering and management process elements to enable the successful adoption of MDD approach.

• Create a community interested in MDD related stuff for populating the OpenUP/MDD plug-in with best practices on MDD and all kind of information.

• Provide open process elements modeled using an open metamodel; UMA until OMG’s SPEM 2.0 metamodel is approved.

• Provide a practical implementation of OMG’s MDA™ initiative using a neutral vocabulary and concepts.
