Introduction

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN A

PERSON DIES?

Ecclesiastes 12:7

7 and the dust returns to the ground it came from, and the spirit returns to God who gave it.

What Happens When A Person Dies?

1. Soul and body separate

Luke 16:19-24 19"There was a rich man who was dressed in purple

and fine linen and lived in luxury every day. 20At his gate was laid a beggar named Lazarus, covered with sores 21and longing to eat what fell from the rich man's table. Why Judgment Day Will Be A Joyous Day For A Believer

1. This is the day of final redemption, we’ll be free from sin and its effects.

1 Thessalonians 4:13,14,18

13Brothers, we do not want you to be ignorant about those who fall asleep, or to grieve like the rest of men, who have no hope. 14We believe that Jesus died and rose again and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him. And so we will be with the Lord forever. 18Therefore encourage each other with these words.

Psalm 16:9-11

9 Therefore my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices; my body also will rest secure, 10 because you will not abandon me to the grave, nor will you let your Holy One see decay. 11 You have made known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand.
