Perimeter Lights:

These green 30Cd LED perimeter lights, designed to be placed at intervals not more than 3 metres apart around the perimeter of the safe landing area have a lamp life of 100,000 hours. Needless to say this level of lamp life represents incredibly low maintenance needs.

New partnership with Orga Offshore to supply helideck lighting

If a low maintenance, robust helideck lighting system that meets the latest in regulation standards is what you

need – we have the perfect solution. These outstanding lighting systems come from Orga Offshore, a specialist in the development of helideck lighting.Orga Offshore is a world leader in developing and manufacturing state of the art hazard warning lights, radar response

beacons, foghorns, fog detectors and other navigational aids plus solar power systems for customers in the offshore, aviation and petrochemical industries. With respect to helidecks they supply lighting for Perimeter, Status, Circle & H, Windsock and Floodlighting, all of which meets the new UK Civil Aviation Authority CAP437 recommendations and/or ICAO regulations.

Cable for Gorgon ProjectJT Day has recently delivered a $5million order for medium voltage electrical cable to be installed in the Gorgon, Barrow Island project. The order, the second for work on the island, was placed by Laing O’Rourke who are undertaking a $98million contract for the Gas Plant’s general utilities.

SmartCleat calculations made easy Oglaend System has released a SmartCleat Calculation Program that helps you calculate how many SmartCleats you need for your cable run.It also recommends the distance between SmartCleats mounted on cable ladders.Get your copy from oglaend-system.com

Status Lights:

These low power consumption lights are less than 250mms in height and are the only CAP 437 compliant status lights available for mounting on a helideck.A helideck status light system should be installed if a condition can exist on an installation which may be hazardous for the helicopter such as a gas alarm. The status light signaling system should be visible 360degrees around the structure with a flash rate of 120 flashes per minute and controlled in combination with the platform gas detection system.

Circle–H Lighting:

These low power consuming, low maintenance touch down markers and heliport identification lights are designed to reduce the so called ‘black hole’ effect and will eliminate the glare from helideck floodlighting systems while increasing pilot orientation awareness.

Helideck Floodlighting:

The HFLO10EX-XE floodlight is an explosion proof helideck floodlight system. It’s made with a long life lamp and designed to meet a tough offshore environment.

Illuminated windsock

This internally illuminated wind direction indicator enables the pilot to be able to determine wind direction easily at night. These products are all available through J.T. Day.

Customised power boards for ConocoPhillips Portable distribution Boards, supplied

by JT Day to requirements of the operators on the ConocoPhillip’s

Bayu Undan offshore platform off Darwin are proving to be a success.ConocoPhillips required 4 new Hazardous Area rated, 3 phase distribution boards and 4 single phase distribution boards for mounting on one of its three interconnecting platforms that are piping gas from the Timor Sea well for refinement at its Darwin Gas Plant. Each Three phase distribution board has one 32A and two 16A, 5 pin three phase outlets, as well as one 16A single phase outlet. Each Single phase distribution board has eight 16A single phase outlets. The end result is that they can now safely provide power to any area of their 280m long X 80m wide facility.A company spokesman reported they found the boards to be well engineered and robust, suitable for the offshore environment and the

HA inspection and certification was faultless.Furthermore, they’re well labelled, easy to use and a significant improvement over their existing boards in terms of construction, reliability and HA conformance. The development of the boards were project managed through design, fabrication and commissioning by JT Day’s, Grant Macpherson.

A regular visitor

Mr Donnie MacLean, the

managing director of the MacLean Electrical Group of which JT Day

is a part has become a frequent visitor to Australia.Mr MacLean visited Australia from the MacLean Electrical Group head office in Scotland in September /October for a familiarisation of the country’s oil and gas projects. The 10 day tour included Perth, Melbourne, Brisbane and Gladstone. He will be back in Perth to attend the opening of our new premises and to attend the oil and gas exhibition and conference.

Mekano™ Triangular Channels – extreme torsional strength and light weight

Since the launch of the triangular support channels Oglaend System has experienced a great demand for this cost saving design in

the global oil and gas market. The so called Mekano 50-2T and 100-2T channels have been supplied to several large offshore projects covering facilities such as FPSO’s, drilling platforms and accommodation platforms.

These channels have significant torsional strength a result of the triangular design. Small perforations at the front and large perforations at the back create a lightweight, flexible and easily installed support solution. The Mekano™ triangular channels are part of Oglaend System’s multidisciplinary support system, MultiGrid™, which can bring a total system cost saving of up to 30 percent during an EPC project.

The large holes make it

easy to bolt other parts to

the channel

Mekano 100 - 2T bolted to Mekano 100-1. The bolts can be mounted from either side

Compared to a traditional welded support solution the triangular channels will reduce

the weight of the support solution by up to 45 percent and man hours with up to 65 percent

Employees from our sales division are undergoing a tailored

course in electro technology provided by the College of Electrical Training. The short course follows the fundamentals from the College’s electrical trade criteria but has been moulded to include the application of a number of principal products such as those from the Weidmuller power products portfolio. The introduction of the course represents our commitment to the technical development of our employees as a large number of our sales personnel have trade

related backgrounds but not all electrical. The course involves approximately 100 hours of contact time at the College taking in theory and practical work with application to the industries we service.
