Fishers High

Academy (CCA)
1,000 student addition and over 100,000 sf of new classroom space
• FHS Student Gallup Poll- Level of engagement declined significantly by senior year
• National trend- College and career readiness
• Members of the design committee- Strong desire for a more meaningful senior year; strong desire to develop great student independence
• Students on the design committee- Strong desire to have student spaces that are available when they need them
“Readiness” is more than college acceptance
or exam scores. It requires:
• Exposure to appropriate rigor
• Development of academic and/or on job skills
• Confidence/agency
Goal is to prepare all students for college & careers beyond high school
Do a great job with the content knowledge, but want to develop a more independent learner
The CCA is for all students
Some of the options available may not be the best fit for all students
Will continue with all current AP and IB course offerings
26 AP courses available
Advanced College Project (ACP) through IU

Current course guide on FHS website lists offerings

Helps students to create a 4-year plan with possible majors or career fields in mind
Have shared with universities and received support for this format
Will continue to add to the document
Help students be intentional with their course selections to get where they want to go
If students take 4 AP/IB/dual credit courses that can fill their schedule
Not right for every student
Some students may want more – 6 or 7 classes, including other electives
Some students may have additional courses needed to fulfil graduation requirements
Some students may not be ready to take 4 college level courses – and that’s okay!
