GRG principal Raquel Charet said: “At GRG we focus on providing a variety of pathways into the adult world. The school has invested heavily to build one of the best Trades Skills Centres in NSW. Our partnership with TAFE NSW allows those students who choose to do so, to exit school with a TAFE qualification. “On Tuesday, March 12, we will be presenting to our community the GRG 2019-2021 Strategic Plan. “Our Strategic Plan plac- es an importance on em- powering and resourcing our teachers to take their craft to the next level, by tapping into a collaborative global learning community committed to research, risk taking, trialling new meth- ods and sharing results and information. “The Strategic Plan also addresses technological currency which is so impor - tant as we create the work- force of the future - students ready and able to take on jobs that don’t even exist in our world right now.” An annual event showcas- ing students and GRG’s unique community, an Open Day will be held on Saturday, March 23, 9am- 1pm, to which interested members of the community and prospective students and parents are invited. “The buzz on Open Day should be bottled, the vibe is festive, all staff, students and visitors engage in our love of learning; it truly is a magnificent day,” Mrs Charet said. “We warmly invite all families to come along and see our school on display, it truly is a great way to ex- perience our GRG family.” There will be classroom displays (K-12) with op- portunity to discuss the cur - riculum with teachers, music performed by talented student musicians, beautiful aroma spilling into the fresh autumn weather from the commercial kitchen lovingly prepared by the Hospitality students, tours on demand lead by the capable stu- dents and opportunities for enrolment enquiries. Inspire all to achieve greatness GEORGES River Grammar principal Raquel Charet has congratulated the Year 12 Class of 2018 for their excel- lent achievement throughout the course of the year in academic, creative, sporting and personal pursuits. In particular, she congratu- lates School Captain Benedict Wilson who was awarded 2018 Dux, scoring an ATAR of 96.6. Beyond the HSC, the 2018 Cohort have chosen diverse pathways. “I am delighted that our 2018 HSC students have been so successful with their university selections, choos- ing to study at various univer - sities,” Mrs Charet said. “Many were already accept- ed into their courses under the early entry schemes. This highlights GRG’s excellent educational and teaching standards.” GRG students are also thriv- ing studying VET subjects, this being evident in the 2018 HSC results with Tarryn Ham- ment placing 1st in NSW for Retail Services and Matthew Hoppitt placing 2nd in NSW Information Digital and Tech- nology (IDT) “We are deeply proud of the young men and women of the cohort and wish them every success in their futures. “GRG has equipped these young men and women to achieve greatness and serve the broader community as leaders and contributors to society, following our motto, ‘Inspired to Learn, Committed to Serve.” Georges River Grammar students enjoy the best of both worlds, with opportunities to extend their academic pursuits at university or go straight into the world of work thanks to its onsite Trades Skills Centre.
