The wisdom of life consists in the elimination of non-essentials

    MESSAGE FROM DIRECTOR GENERAL

Dear colleagues, The Month of September was historic for the Engineering Fraternity since on 15th of this month, Bharat Ratna Dr. M. Visvesvaraya, a wizard in Engineering & an eminent Statesman, was born and his birth anniversary is celebrated as the Engineers day. CPWD being an Engineering Organization, we all offered our rich tributes to this great legend, whose rich contributions to the country as an Engineer are inspiring and worthy of emulation by all of us. I have been told that only few units of CPWD are sending the details for publishing in e-newsletter, the response from other units is either lacking or not found encouraging, with the result, despite best efforts, this Directorate is not able to showcase the activities of entire spread of CPWD in the Newsletter. I would request everyone to send the details of their activities and achievements in a regular and time bound manner so that future editions of monthly Newsletter could be brought out in more informative and comprehensive manner. I firmly believe that sharing our activities and achievement with the public, clients, stake-holders and amongst ourselves should be a continuous process to build the strong and positive image of the Department. For efficient and prompt execution of work, most important thing is the coordination and cooperation amongst officers & staff of the Civil, Electrical, Architecture and Horticulture streams. I would urge officers and staff of all disciplines to work in cohesive manner with mutual coordination & corporation, so that, there are no hindrances and works are completed well in time and are translated into higher client satisfaction.

Deepawali, the festival of lights is just after few days. On this auspicious occasion, I convey my warm greetings and best wishes to each and every member of CPWD family. May this festival of lights usher in progress, prosperity and happiness and enthuse us with new spirit and energy to pursue our set goals. The task before us is to continue the growth of the Department. 'Perform or perish' is the mantra and we have no option but to strive together to bring our Department to a greater height. I would appeal all to serve the organization with best of their abilities so that CPWD remains a premier construction agency. I am confident that with the combined efforts of all of us, we shall excel in our performance.

    CLEANLINESS IS NEXT TO GODLINESS

    CLEANLINESS PLEDGE

Mahatma Gandhi dreamt of an India which was not only free but also clean and developed.

Mahatma Gandhi secured freedom for Mother India. Now it is our duty to serve Mother India by

keeping the country neat and clean.

I take this pledge that I will remain committed towards cleanliness and devote time for this. I will

devote 100 hours per year that is two hours per week to voluntary work for cleanliness.

I will neither litter nor let others litter. I will initiate the quest for cleanliness with myself, my family, my locality, my village and my work place.

I believe that the countries of the world that appear clean are so because their citizens dont

indulge in littering nor do they allow it to happen. With this firm belief, I will propagate the

message of Swachh Bharat Mission in villages and towns.

I will encourage 100 other persons to take this pledge.

I will endeavour to make them devote their 100 hours for cleanliness.

I am confident that every step I take towards cleanliness will help in making my country clean.

    Dos Donts

Start cleanliness from home Dont litter and dont let others litter Keep surroundings clean and green Dont defecate and urinate in open Keep work place neat and clean Dont deface public properties

Devote two hours a week on sanitation Dont spit in public places
