Prayer of the Day:

Gathered in the midst of the MYSTERY which IS LOVE, we open ourselves to the power of LOVE to tend our wounds, heal our divisions, and empower our lives in ways that will be good news for the world. Immersed in the ONE who created us from the stuff of the Earth, the REALITY which binds us reawakens the LOVE that lives in, with, through, and beyond us. Let us open ourselves to the SACRED and breathe deeply of the wonders of the ONE in whom we live and move and have our being. This we pray in the name the MYSTERY who is LOVE, CHRIST who LOVES and the SPIRIT which stirs desire in us to be LOVERs. Amen.

Song of Praise: The Knowing Video produced by The Work of the People

Gospel: Psalm 139

YHWH, you’ve searched me, and you know me. You know if I am standing or sitting, you read my thoughts from far away. Whether I walk or lie down, you are watching; you are intimate with all of my ways. A word is not even on my tongue, YHWH, before you know what it is: you hem me in, before and behind, shielding me with your hand. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, a height my mind cannot reach!

Where Could I run from your Spirit? Where could I flee from your presence? If I go up to the heavens, your’re there;

if I make my bed in Death, you’re already there. I could fly away with wings made of dawn, or my home on the far side of the sea, but even there your had will guide me, your mighty hand holding me fast. If I say, “The darkness will hide me, and night will be my only light,” even the darkness won’t be dark to you; the night will shine like the day— darkness and light are the same to you.

You created my inmost being and stitched e together in my mother’s womb. For all these mysteries I thank you— for the wonder of myself,

Where I wander—You! Where I ponder—You!

Only You everywhere, You, always, You.

You, You, You. When I am gladdened—You!

And when I am saddened—You! Only You, everywhere You!

You, You, You. Sky is You!

Earth is You! You above! You below!

In every trend, at every end, Only You, everywhere You!

— Levi Yitzchak of Berditchov

for the wonder of your works— my soul knows it well. My frame was not hidden from you while I was being made in that secret place, knitted together in the depths of the earth; your eyes saw my body even there. All of my days were written in your book, all of them planned before even the first of them came to be. How precious your thoughts are to me, O God! How impossible to number them! I could no more count them Than I could count the sand. But suppose I could? You would still be with me! …

Examine me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my thoughts— see if there is misdeed within me, and guide me in the way that is eternal.

Interpretation of the prayer attributed to Jesus:

MYSTERY, closer to us than our own hearts, farther from us than the most distant star, you are beyond naming. May your powerful presence become obvious not only in the undeniable glory of the sky, but also in the seemingly mundane and common processes of the earth. Give us what we need, day by day, to keep body and soul together, because clever as you have made us, we still owe our existence to you. We recognize that to be reconciled with you, we must live peaceably and justly with other human beings, putting hate and bitterness behind us. We are torn between our faith in your goodness and our awareness of the pain in creation, so deliver us from the temptation to despair. Yours alone is the universe and all its majesty and beauty. So it is, Amen.

Holy Cross Finances as of MAY 31, 2020

THANK-YOU! THANK-YOU! THANK-YOU! Thanks to all the generous, Members and Friends of Holy Cross who have graciously stepped up to ensure that our financial house is in order during these unprecedented times! Your ongoing donations are especially appreciated as we all struggle to come to terms with the current realities of financial insecurity. Thanks to your generosity we have been able to hold our deficit down to -1,172.53 compared to Budget. As many of you know, the budget does not reflect the annual expenses which are paid in the first half of the year. Our ongoing expenses are expected to continue well below budget for the remainder of this year. Below you will see a summary of our Income and Expenses.
