What are CEU’s?

Units awarded for participation in an organized continuing education experience under responsible sponsorship, capable direction, and qualified instruction. They are non-credit educational experiences. One Continuing Education Unit (CEU) is ten (10) contact hours of study. CDA Renewals require 4.5 CEU’s for renewal after three years.

If you see a training listed in our Professional Development Calendar with the CEU sticker in the upper right hand corner that means that it qualifies for CEU’s. Contact Jeri Fowler for more information on obtaining CEU’s for a specific training.

What is it? The Best Beginnings STARS to Quality Program is a

voluntary quality rating improvement system that aligns

quality indicators with support and incentives for early

childhood programs and early

childhood professionals.

Why was it created?

Early Childhood Specialists are available for:

Required trainings Coaching Technical assistance

As part of the Child Care Development Block Grant (federal

dollars) each State has been required to develop a quality

improvement system and STARS became Montana’s model.

Many child care programs receive regular on-site visits with the STARS consultant or coach.

Programs need to renew or move forward annually. They are assessed to assure the quality

indicators remain intact for the current STAR status to continue or to allow the program to

attain the next STAR level.
