What is OJS?

The Online On-The-Job Simulation or OJS program

a 160-hour simulated transcription exposure that provides students with the opportunity to have a near-production experience even if done outside an actual MT production facility

The online OJS increases the chances of landing an MT job because of exposure to near-authentic medical transcription dictations.

Aside from the exposure to different voice files of different difficulty and specialty and the students are given feedback on all work done. These valuable feedbacks are necessary to increase student accuracy and productivity

This program can be utilized by any existing TTSI Partner School

Course Objectives

At the end of the 160-hour program, students should have attained the following

1. Apply different rules of transcription based on the AHDI/AAMT book of styles2. Advanced skills in using the Internet as a research tool in medical transcription3. Produce quality healthcare documentation compliant with medical and English convention4. Produce at least 350 lines per day with 95% accuracy

GETTING STARTED

Getting StartedAfter paying the enrollment fees, the student can start downloading the installer. Before downloading, check with the Internet café if they will allow installation or if the program has already been installed.

For those using the program at home, download the program by visiting e-TTSI website at www.ttsionlinetraining.com then click the Downloads menu on top of the e-TTSI webpage.

Click on the OJS Installer “installer.exe.” Click Save to copy the installer in your PC or click Run to install the program without saving.

Click on the “OJS Installer” and this will start downloading. We suggest that it be saved on your computer’s desktop for easy installation.

For those who saved the installer, check the desktop and double click on the OJS Installer icon to start installation.

The Excelsior Installer window pop-up will appear. Click Next to proceed with the installation or Cancel to abort installation.

Select Profile to install the software. Choose Personal if you want the program to be accessed only by yourself or Common for everyone using the computer. Then Next to continue with the installation or Cancel to abort installation.

Tick box to uncheck if you do not want an icon on your Desktop, otherwise click Next to create shortcut icon on your Desktop.

The Installer will now start copying files to the designated folder.

After the installation has been completed, click Finish. You are now ready to start transcribing!

The OJS icon will now appear on your Desktop. Click on the icon to start the program.

Your username and password will be emailed to you when you submit the electronic enrollment form and paid the appropriate fees. You will need them to login to the OJS program.

Immediately after logging in, click on the USER PROFILE button to update your account.

Click on the Edit button to update your profile. This will activate the panels for the student’s personal information.

You can now update information on your User Profile. Click Save to finish.

You can also change your password regularly inside the USER PROFILE. Just type in your old password and new password and click Submit .

HOW TO USE THE OJS PLATFORM

How to use the OJS PlatformDouble click on the OJS Icon on your desktop to start the program.

This will launch the OJS Platform.

How to use the OJS Platform

If you are logging in for the first time, the program automatically checks for updates. You have to click the OJS Icon again after the updates to launch the platform.

The OJS start-up window will appear prompting for your username and password.


Enter the username and password that was sent thru email.

You will be prompted that “There is no job currently assigned to you” if you have no pending jobs. Click OK.


The Welcome Screen appears after connecting to the server.

You will be reminded that you will have to finish requested jobs within 4 hours. Click “Yes” to continue.


You will immediately be assigned jobs. You can only transcribe jobs currently assigned to you. You cannot start another job if you have not completed the previous job.


Click on the job currently assigned to you and click Transcribe button to start transcribing.


The program will now

fetch the voice file currently assigned

for download


The Transpad will then appear. Transpad stands for Transcription pad. This is where you will start transcribing the dictated medical record.


The Transpad consists of a Note Pad where you will transcribe and a Voice Player that will play the voice file.

Shortcut keys for the voice player is available on top of the Transpad. These can be accessed by pressing the ALT key plus the letter of the shortcut.

You can also use your mouse to manipulate the voice player by clicking the appropriate buttons.


You can also change the volume by dragging the Volume control (A) and the playback speed by dragging the Rate control (B). You can also control the number of seconds the player steps back or forward by changing the Step Up (C) and Step Down (D) rate.

REVIEWING

All submitted files will be made available for review within 48 hours. Click the Review button to view edited work.

The program will connect to the server to fetch the files for review.Reviewing

A list of all edited files will be shown. You can only review a file one at a time. Files will be available for review within the next 48 hours from first access.

You can now review the file for errors. Fonts in black are the words you transcribed correctly, in red are the errors, and in blue are the words you missed.

You can also check the error points assigned to the specific error. A list of error points are shown on the left side of the Error Summary.

REPORT CARD

A summary of all your files can be seen at the Report Card. Click the Report Card button to see your files.

Report Card

Files are listed either by Session or Set. A Session includes all files done on a particular batch. A Set includes all files done equivalent to 10 sessions’ worth of work. You can choose which to view by choosing the Report Type.

Summary of the Session or Set will be shown. This includes Line Counts (LC), Productivity (pLPD), Accuracy (ACC) and Turn Around Time (TAT) compliance.

Per-report statistics is also available on the upper portion of the Report Card.

Editor’s comments can also be viewed on the upper portion of the Report Card at the Rating column together with the TAT, LC, EP and ACC per report.

PERFORMANCE RECORD

After 160 hours of training, you will be given a record of your performance for the whole period.

Performance Record

The Performance Record contains a summary of your productivity and accuracy or quality score for the whole training period. The scores are divided into four (4) sets equivalent to four (4) weeks of training.

For control and validation, the Performance Record has a Serial Number for every student. This will serve as his reference number in the list of OJS graduates.

CONCLUSION

You have the following number of days to complete the OJS training. If you are not able to complete the required sessions, you will be sent an email informing you that your account has already expired.

NOTICE OF EXPIRATION

A. Account will expire when inactive for 7 days.

B. You have 60 days to complete the entire OJS program from session 1.

After the last transcription session and after all the files have been edited, the Performance Record will be automatically generated by the system. It will then be forwarded to your email address. Students who complete the training program with an accuracy score of 95% and productivity of 350 lines per day will be offered employment by TTSI or referred to affiliate MT companies.
